All I cared about was stacking my money up over these next few years. Faheem claimed he was going to take care of all my needs, and I was finna hold him to that. While he spent his money, I was finna save mine.

Opening my bedroom door, I came face to face with Frankee. She looked cute in her jean skater skirt, white halter top, white Air Force 1’s, a gold ankle bracelet, and big gold hoop earrings. Her bob looked freshly done.

“Hey, new best friend.” Frankee waved at me.

“Hey,” I replied back skeptically, unsure why she was at my door.

“Can I come in?” Frankee asked. Before I could reply, she pushed past me, going into my room. “I could have sworn I told you we was finna be friends.”

Shutting my door, I turned around to see Frankee looking in the closet where some of my clothes were hung up. I still hadn’t unpacked all the way. A lot of my clothes were in my suitcases, but a good portion of them were hung up.

“Uhhh, I didn’t think you were serious. Are you looking for something?” I asked, standing behind Frankee.

“Everything I say, I mean.” Frankee looked back at me, winking before going back to rummaging through my clothes. “I need something cute for you to wear.”

“For what?”

Sighing, Frankee turned around looking at me with her lip turned up. “My little boo wants to come over and chill with me tonight, but his brother is in town visiting. He needs someone cute to kick it with too. I promised my boo the best of the best for his brother, and I thought of you.”

“But I’m married to your brother… Isn’t that going to be a problem?” I didn’t know if this was some type of test or what.Frankee seemed like we could be friends eventually. At the moment, I was still trying to figure out what her angle was.

“Ain’t that shit fake?”

“I mean, yeah.”

“Exactly. Faheem can’t tell you what to do. Let him run Mixie, not you.” Frankee turned back around digging through my closet until she turned around with a fitted white tank top dress with a bubble skirt. It was on the shorter side, so I never wore it. I didn’t even mean to grab it. It was one of the things I took in my rampage.

“You got some sneakers you can wear with this? Forces, or maybe a pair of Dunks?”

“I got plenty of sneakers, but who said I’m going with you to hang out with some niggas I don’t even know?” I folded my arms across my chest, cocking my head to the side.

“What else you doing tonight? Wait… Are you fucking my brother?

“Huh? Wha-what does that have to do with anything?” I was completely caught off guard by that.

“You heard me. You either fucking Faheem, or you want to, but that’s a waste of time,” Frankee said with a sour look on her face.

“I don’t want Faheem in any way, shape, or form. Once w-” I tried to deny, but Frankee saw right through my bullshit.

“Girl, shut the hell up. I can see how y’all came in the living room at our parents’. Y’all not slick.” Frankee smirked at me, placing her hand on her hip.

Was it really that obvious that Faheem and I messed around?

Smacking my lips, I refused to admit the truth. “It’s not like that. This situation is just to help me out. That’s all.”

“Then it’s settled. We finna chill with some fine ass niggas tonight.” Frankee threw her arms up, twirling her hips, doing a silly dance. I found myself giggling at her silliness.

I suppose hanging out with Frankee wouldn’t be so bad. It would get me out of the house for a little while.

“His brother better be cute too.” I cracked a smile.

“Frankee only mess with fine niggas that only hang with other fine ass niggas,” Frankee said matter of factly. Walking over to me, she ran her hands through my hair. “This all you?” she asked, running her hands down to the ends of my hair.

My natural hair was long and healthy. I prided myself in taking care of my real hair. I wore it out a lot, but protective hairstyles were how I kept it long and healthy. Right now, I had a versatile sew in with a leave out in the front, middle, and back to give the appearance my sew in was natural.

“Some of it,” I answered truthfully.

“Come on, we need to get you together real quick,” Frankee said, pulling me towards the bathroom attached to my room.
