“And she is funny, and kind…” Ethan seemed lost in thought.
“But…?”
“Nothing.” He shrugged again. “Just wondering if she was with someone because I blatantly went for it tonight and she outright rejected me. In a nice way, of course. But she practically ran away, and that never happens.”
Marc couldn’t hold the cackle inside.
“Okay, that’s rude, you cunt,” Ethan said with a lopsided grin.
The bassist patted his shoulder. “Sorry, dude, didn’t mean to hurt your egoeven more.” He smirked.
“Get fucked,” Aussie Blond joked as he elbowed him in the ribs.
“She’s not seeing anyone right now, that I know of,” Marc said as he eased off his laugh. “But she’s still… hmm… trying to come to terms with her feelings for someone. It’s complicated.”
“I see…” Ethan twisted his mouth, chewing on his bottom lip. “I’d fuck her, anyway. Give her a good time and help her forget.” He wiggled his brows.
“Not the only one.”
“You too?”
“Hell no.” The bassist laughed again. “I mean, I see her appeal, but that’d be fucking weird.”
“Because you’re friends?” Ethan asked, his smile from a second before vanishing as his gaze drifted away to what seemed like a dark place inside his mind.
Marc blew out some more smoke. “Not really. It’s just… I don’t see her that way.”
“I guess it’s not normal to want to fuck your friends…”
“Hmm, I wouldn’t say so,” he said, as if he were one to speak about this, especially now that he was such a mess. “With some people, you might be so close you see them as brothers or sisters… With everyone else, why not? We’re all human, and friction brings affection.” He shrugged with a grin.
The Aussie cackled softly. “I guess.”
“Is there someone like that in your life?” Marc asked curiously, not sure if he was overstepping.
“Yeah…” Ethan sighed. “She’s off limits, though.”
“Why?”
The Aussie chuckled, sounding bitter. “She’s the little sister of the twins.”
“I see.”
“... and the ex of a friend.”
“Oof… That definitely makes it complicated.”
“You have no idea.” Ethan stepped on the stub of his cig.
“Have you tried talking to your friend about it?” Marc wondered. “Because let’s be honest, the twins should suck it up. You’re more than a decent guy. I’d be fine with you dating one of my sisters, if they weren’t taken already. Though, not sure if you’d be able to deal with them.”
“Thanks…” Ethan chuckled, sadness lacing his tone. “It’s—” He turned his head away and pushed off the wall they were leaning on. “Speak of the devil…”
As Marc followed his gaze, he saw Leah stumbling out of the nightclub, clutching at her chest. “Shit…”
“What is it?” the Aussie asked as they approached her.
“Leah?” Marc called.
