“How can someone so small contain so much…”
“Muchness?”
Lucifer huffed a laugh against my throat. “Precisely.”
I hummed as his free hand burned a path up my thigh, massaging gently as he moved higher. “Just lucky, I guess. I caught your attention, didn’t I?”
“Mmm, you did much more than that, little phoenix.”
Logical thought fled my mind as he pulled back and thrust in hard. My breath caught in my chest, fingers locked around his neck, as he jerked my head to the side and bit down.
Hard.
The combination of pain and pleasure sent a pulse of pure need through me and I strained against his hold, but Lucifer held fast, hammering into me relentlessly. His tongue flicked across my skin, soothing the ache and leaving another burning deep in my core. I wanted to touch him, Ialwayswanted to, but the moment I slid my fingers into his hair, both arms slammed into the slick tile behind me. An invisible force held them there as Lucifer adjusted his grip, bringing my face back to his.
“Let me hear you, Lexi,” he crooned. His teal gaze was molten with desire as he slowed and deepened his thrusts. “Open that beautiful mouth of yours and scream for me.”
I wasn’t sure what had gotten into him tonight, and I didn’t care. This game we played, this war for dominance, always demanded a winner, and I didn’t mind losing one bit tonight. Whatever he needed, I was willing to give. When he lifted my ass away from the wall and sunk in deeper, a guttural cry ripped from my throat. Lucifer groaned and slammed his mouth over mine.
The spot on my neck throbbed in time with each thrust—a delicious, heady combination. His tongue commandeered my mouth and I pressed back, the taste of him divine to my every sense. I wanted to move, to writhe against him, to take him to the floor and ride him to oblivion, but he needed the control tonight. All I needed was to enjoy the moment, the pleasure, everything this man wanted to give.
He pulled out suddenly and set me on my feet, spinning me and pressing me against the wall. I barely had time to register his absence when he lifted my right leg and speared me again.
“Luci—ah, fuck!” I gasped as he pounded on that sensitive spot deep inside.
“Say it again,” he growled against the side of my head. His left hand slid around my hip and down between my legs, circling my swollen flesh. “Say my name as you come, Lexi.”
Too much, too soon, too fast. My head swam, core tightening as my veins burned, power calling to power. I pressed my forehead to the cool tile, gasping for breath until I couldn’t hold it in any longer.
“Lucifer!” The sound of my cry filled the bathroom as I came apart in his hands, shuddering as he dragged out one aftershock after another. My knees turned to jelly and he shifted his grip to hold me upright, still hard, still thrusting.
He grunted something unintelligible, or maybe I was just beyond hearing, and a flood of power washed through me. A tsunami of fire that dragged another mind-shattering orgasm from me. My throat burned, and I felt Lucifer’s weight press against my back, his strokes slowing as he breathed hard.
“You are fucking radiant,” he murmured.
I blinked the world back into focus and turned my head slightly, finding enough energy restored to take my own weight again. If only just. “And you still have a few hours to kill tonight.”
The wicked grin that crossed his face sent another jolt of anticipation through me. “That sounded like a challenge.”
I matched his grin. “I didn’t realize my meaning was unclear.”
“Woman.” He gripped my chin and brought his face close, our noses brushing. “You are so…”
“Addictive?” I brushed my lips against his, just the lightest touch. “Insatiable? What word could the devil possibly have trouble finding?”
He growled and pressed me harder against the wall. “Mine.”
Chapter 3
Lucifer
The sounds of Boston filled the air around me, and the salty scent of the harbor nearly covered the smell of exhaust. Two children ran past me, laughing and squealing in delight as they chased each other across the park to the playground ahead. My chest tightened as I pictured Lexi there, huddled behind the building nearby as my Angelfire raged around me, consuming every demon in the area.
If she’d hesitated even a second…
I shook my head away from that line of thought. Loki had described the scene for me later, a highly detailed play-by-play from wherever he watched the show from. Though untrained in her magic, her instincts were phenomenal, her creativity juvenile but extremely effective. And I’d almost lost her that night because I’d unleashed myself without making sure she’d run like I told her to.
Stuffing my hands in my pockets, I turned toward the harbor, following the warm energy I was looking for. I wasn’t sure if it was intentional or just a coincidence that Miranda marked this place as an anchor point. One of several locations that spanned the city. Each area would have a sweet spot, a point where the earth was most amenable to the witches’ magic. She assured me the angles as they related to each other didn’t matter so much as finding those points.
