“The aliens asked me questions, but all I told them was that I had a brother and a tribe I needed to get back to. I told them about life before the nukes hit. That was it.”

He gripped her jaw in his tight grip. “I almost believe you. Maybe the aliens were soft on you. But Dome Leader Winstead would not be.”

“I only saw him once when we first arrived. Logan, I mean, the Drastan captain refused to let him take me into custody for interrogation.”

“That might explain the first day. What about the last three?”

“I’ve been getting treatment for radiation sickness.”

“I didn’t notice you being sick.”

“We’re all sick. Every one of us in the tunnels has been exposed to some sort of radiation. There are others that are in worse shape. We need to get them treated as soon as possible. The Drastan doctor offered to come to us if we don’t feel comfortable going to the dome for treatment. I can…”

Smack!Waller slapped her again in the same place. The sting was even worse than the first. Her vision faded for a moment. It took being shaken hard to realize she lost consciousness.

“My brother will kill you when he finds out what you’re doing.”

He laughed. “What makes you think your brother doesn’t already know?”

“You’re lying. Felix would never let you hurt me!” It was sad that there was a bit of doubt.

“Am I? I don’t think you know him as well as you think. Now, tell me the truth or die!”

She would die whether she said anything. Faith would not make this easy for him.

“Fuck you, asshole!”
