Shale let out a shocked laugh, then gaped at me. But he smiled as he did. “Even now, you can make me laugh, my little doll.”
I grimaced. “Little doll? Where the fuck did you get that?”
He grimaced back. “I'm trying to be sweet and give you a pet name. Your last name is Dahl. I went with it.”
My lips twitched.
“You're teasing me,” he said.
“A little. Thank you for the nickname. It's sweet. But maybe drop the 'little.'”
Shale snorted. “You are little compared to me.”
“Yeah, all right. I'm still a guy. I don't like being called little.”
“Ah. Very well, doll.”
“Now, you've dropped the 'my!' That was the best part!”
“You are the most aggravating man!”
I burst out laughing, and Shale laughed with me.
When our laughter subsided, he said softly, “I'm sorry for telling you to leave.”
“I'm sorry your mommy sacrificed your heart to Ranu.”
Shale snorted. “How the fuck are you making light of that?”
I shrugged. “It's a gift.”
His expression went serious. “Youare a gift, Sebastian. Thank you for . . .”
“Being brave and handsome and willing to put up with your crazy Dragon shit?”
The King chuckled again. “Yes, all that.” He reached for me. “Come here, mydoll. I need you again.”
And so three days turned into four.
Chapter Twenty-Seven
“I want to watch the sunrise while I'm inside you,” Shale whispered to me on the fourth morning.
I grinned to myself. I was on my side, and he was on his, pressed up against my back, his erection nestled between my lower cheeks.
I looked at him over my shoulder. “You do that every morning.”
“That's not true.” He massaged my entrance with an oiled finger. “Every morning, I've been too distracted by you to watch the sunrise. You're beautiful in that honey-rose light.”
“Oh, that was a good one. Poetic.” I started to turn to face him. “I thought you didn't like poetry.”
“No. Stay as you are.” Shale held me in place. “This is how I get distracted. You look at me, and I can't look away.”
“Shale,” I whispered, my chest clenching with emotion.
“Shh.” He kissed my neck, then scraped his teeth along my skin. “Just watch the day dawn with me.”
“But how can I watch youdawnif I'm facing away?”
