“For example, I could create a little accident, and you'd happen to be the only one around to save him.”

Holy fuck, can he hear me?I thought.

“I know you can't answer me now, but think about it,” Death said.

I relaxed. He couldn't hear me. Of course, he couldn't. He was just magic.

“So, uh, Ember,” Keltyr said.

I looked over at him with raised eyebrows.

“I was thinking maybe we could go swimming later. At the forest lake.”

“The one where I learned how to master Water Magic?”

“No, the smaller one.”

“I haven't been to a smaller one.”

“Even better.” Kel grinned. “We could take lunch with us.”

“A picnic?” I grinned. “I've never been on one of those either.”

“We sometimes took food with us when you were doing your elemental training,” Rath said.

“But that wasn't a picnic. We didn't set down a blanket and sip wine or anything romantic.”

“Because we weren't a couple at the time.”

“Right. So it wasn't a picnic, Rath.”

“Uh, if you want to do that with him first, I get it,” Kel said. “I don't want to cause any trouble.”

“No, it's all right, Keltyr,” Rath said. “Have fun at the picnic.”

“Rath,” I whispered and leaned closer to him.

“It's fine.”

A burst of laughter came from across the aisle, and I looked over to see Jath in the middle of the group it originated from. He glanced over at me, did a double-take, and stared. I stared back. Then men continued to laugh around Jath as his eyes went . . . I don't know what. They looked a little like a puppy's, but could also be indigestion. Fuck that asshole. I turned back to Rath.

“Why don't the three of us go on a date?” I suggested.

“What about Keltyr?”

“Do you mind if we put our picnic off until tomorrow, Kel?”

Kel looked from me to Rath and back. “Sure. No problem.”

Fuck, in trying to make my lovers happy, I hurt Kel's feelings.

“All right, forget that. What about Kel and I go out this afternoon and then tonight, the three of us can go to dinner?”

Kel looked at Xae, then Rath.

Rath nodded. “I'm good with that.”

“Xae?” I looked at him.
