The rest of us stared at Cyprian in shock.
“We'll do things your way,” Cyprian continued.
“What?” Malik snarled and glared at Cyprian.
Cyprian stared meaningfully at Malik.
Mal blinked. “Fine.”
“Thank you,” Alex said in relief and headed toward the door. “I'll get some agents in here to pack up this machine while we speak to Bishop. If he doesn't give us enough information about it, we'll take it with us to examine back home, otherwise, the crate will go missing in transit.”
“Thank you, Alex,” Cyprian said smoothly.
Mollified, Alex stepped out of the room.
As soon as Alex was through the door, Cyprian gave the rest of us a heavy look. That look was Bishop's death sentence. We would let Alex think we were playing nice and then do exactly as we pleased. It's not as if he'll be able to do anything about it once Bishop was dead.
Talon started grinning again and this time, everyone joined him.
Chapter Thirty
Magnus Bishop didn't look so smug anymore. He cringed when we entered the room he was being held in—the same metal-lined room he'd put me in with Juriksel. When he saw the Fury, he even started to whimper.
“Oh, it's not any of them you have to worry about.” Jason stepped forward and smacked a hand on Bishop's shoulder.
Bishop was strapped to a metal chair, his arms handcuffed behind his back and his legs attached to the chair legs with zip ties. All he could do was flinch when Jason touched him. And when Jason's magic swept through him, he gaped at him in horror.
“Okay, first things first,” Jason said brightly. “Those test tubes full of magic you have stored in your mini-fridge, where are the supes you took them from?”
“Dead,” Bishop said immediately.
Most of the supes in the room cursed, and I ground my teeth together. So, that had been the truth.
“They were all prisoners here?” Jason went on.
“Yes.”
“How many humans have you altered with stolen magic?” Rain demanded.
Bishop just glared at Rain until Jason repeated the question. Then he answered, “Thirty-four.”
“What the fuck?” Rain looked at me.
“Jason can compel the truth from anyone,” I explained with a grin. “But he has to ask the questions.”
“Son of a bitch,” Rain whispered in admiration.
“It's the only thing he's good for,” Lily drawled with a teasing grin at Jason, who stuck his tongue out at her.
Braxis moved along the wall, positioning himself closer to me as he eyed Rain suspiciously. I frowned at him, but kept silent. If watching over me made him feel better, I'd let it go for now.
“Did you keep a record of your sales?” Jason asked Bishop.
“Yes, of course.”
“Where is it?”
“In a safe behind the mirror of my bedroom vanity.”
