“Conall showed them to me when he kidnapped me,” I said. “He used them as proof that you had given me to him.”

“He must have had his own set, Riley.” Drostan shrugged. “These have never left the castle.”

“That bastard,” I hissed. “I totally fell for it.”

“It's over now,” he said simply. “Go see to your morning needs and bathe. And be quick about it; I'll be waiting.” He shook the chains at me.

I went into the bathroom and went through my morning routine, wondering what was up with Drostan. Ever since that muscle cramp, he'd been acting strangely. But our relationship had always been odd, and his mood swings were getting commonplace. Maybe the man was insane. I bathed, dried off, and headed back into the bedroom.

“Excellent,” Drostan said. “Now, come here; I want to put these on you.”

“I thought we were over this?” I grumbled as I went to stand before him.

“My desires shift,” he said as he fastened the collar around my throat. “Spread your legs.”

I did as he said, and Drostan ran the lengths of shiver chain from the front of the collar, between my legs, and to the back of the collar. He sucked my nipples briefly so he could slide the golden hoops on, then attached the chain between them. The shiver chain thrummed against my clit, making me writhe.

“Lovely,” he proclaimed.

Drostanwent to an armoire and pulled out a red velvet cloak. He was already fully dressed in tunic, pants, cloak, and boots. But this cloak was for me; he threw it over my shoulders and took me by the hand.

“Preparations for the Spring Festival are underway,” he said casually as he led me through the halls. “I need to test the altar, and you shall assist me.”

Fairies were bustling about; their arms full of flowers, fabric, and ribbons.

“The Spring Festival?” I asked.

“It's a fertility festival.” Drostan grinned at me. “You will not be attending, but you may watch from my window.”

“You're attending without me?”

“I have to attend and participate; I'm the King.”

“And what happens at this fertility festival?” I narrowed my eyes at him.

“Lots of sex, of course.” He shrugged.

“You want me to watch from the window as you fuck other women?” I asked with horror.

“It's just sex, Riley.” Drostan frowned at me. “You should know by now that we fairies have a different opinion on sex than humans. Sex is a pleasant pursuit and a way to procreate; nothing more.”

“Nothing more?” I lifted my eyebrows at him.

“If you care for someone, it becomes more,” he amended. “But even when we're in committed relationships, we fuck other people. We just take precautions not to procreate; like the spell I cast upon you when I first brought you here.”

“You cast a spell on me?” I gaped at him.

“I didn't want you getting pregnant,” he said. “It was just a precaution. But the fairies I fuck tonight will not have taken the those measures; it is a fertility festival, after all.”

“Are you fucking kidding me?” I shouted. “You think it's okay for you to knock up another woman because it's a fertility festival? I thought we were going to try to renew our relationship?”

“How many fairies have you fucked?” Drostan stopped and narrowed his gaze at me. “All without knowing that I had frozen your fertility.”

I went silent. He was right; hadn't I just been thinking that my morals were shifting to something more fey? But it was different when I was with someone who I cared about, and who cared about me. I didn't want to be with someone else when I was with Trenton, and I had hoped that I could eventually feel the same for Drostan. Either way, I had thought that Drostan cared about me. But now he not only wanted to screw other women, he was also fine with impregnating them. So what did that mean?

“That's right; you've experienced the pleasures of Tirne,” he said. “Do not get caught up in morals now. I am the King of Unseelie; I will fuck who I want when I want. Children are rare for us, so if one of the women get pregnant tonight, it will be a blessing; no matter who the father is.”

“But I can't fuck whomever I want?” I growled. “Is that why I'm not allowed to go to this festival?”
