I kiss her one more time, then force myself to get up. We're a mess of tangled limbs and rushed movements as we both try to get ready at the same time. Allison's in the bathroom doing her makeup while I'm pulling on jeans in the bedroom. Whiskers watches all of this from her spot on the bed, looking thoroughly unimpressed with our chaos.

"Have you seen my blue shirt?" Allison calls out.

"Which blue shirt?"

"The one with the buttons."

I find it draped over the chair in the corner and bring it to her. She's standing at the sink in just her bra and pants, and I have to resist the urge to pull her back to bed.

"Thank you." She takes the shirt and kisses my cheek. "Now go get dressed before we're both late."

I do as I'm told, pulling on a t-shirt and grabbing my wallet and keys. By the time she comes out of the bathroom, fully dressed and looking put together despite our rushed morning, I'm ready to go.

We make it out the door with about two minutes to spare. The drive to the school is quiet, both of us still waking up, and when I pull into the parking lot, I see we're not the only ones cutting it close. Several other teachers are hurrying toward the building.

"Have a good day," I tell her, leaning over to kiss her.

"You too. What are you up to today?"

"The usual. Oil changes, brake jobs, whatever needs doing." I don't mention that I'm waiting to hear from Chief Harrison about the raid last night. Don't mention that I'm on edge, waiting for news that could change everything.

"Exciting." She grins at me. "I'll see you this afternoon?"

"I'll be here."

She gets out, and I watch her walk into the building, making sure she's safely inside before I pull away. The drive to Saint's Outlaws garage doesn't take long, and when I get there, Devil's already waiting.

He's standing outside the office, his phone in his hand, and the look on his face tells me he's got news.

"What is it?" I ask as I walk up.

"Got a text from Harrison. He wants to meet."

My stomach drops. "When?"

"Now. He said to come out to the barn."

"Fuck." I run a hand through my hair. "Did he say what they found?"

"No. Just that we need to talk."

We tell Storm we're heading out to pick up some parts, a lie that comes easy after years of practice. Then we're in my truck, heading out to the same barn where I met Harrison yesterday.

"Do you have any idea what they found?" I ask Devil.

"Not yet, I guess we'll be finding out together."

The rest of the drive is silent, both of us lost in our own thoughts. When we pull up to the barn, Harrison's SUV is already there. He's leaning against it, arms crossed, and his expression is grim.

This isn't good news. I can tell that much before he even opens his mouth.

Devil and I leave the garage, telling everyone we have to go pick up some parts. We ride in my truck out to one of the barns where we meet. "Do you have any idea what they found?" I ask Devil.

"Not yet, I guess we'll be finding out together."
