It was getting really uncomfortable sitting there with eggs in my butt and nothing on but a robe. I whispered in Daddy’s ear, asking him if it would be okay for me to get dressed now. I was disappointed that we didn’t get the snuggle time I’d been looking forward to and that Ryan’s appearance had ripped me out of the floaty space.
I knew everything up to the moment Ryan said my name had been too good to stick around.
By the time I got back, Daddy and Ryan were chatting like old friends. If I hadn’t seen for myself how both of them postured when they thought I was in danger, I wouldn’t have believed it.
Ryan stood, placing his hands on my shoulders. “I’m going to leave you to it, but don’t be a stranger. When you talk to Tanner, ask him for my number.”
That made Daddy get up from the couch and move closer, as if he couldn’t stand the idea that he was sitting down while someone else was this close to me.
“I will.” I sucked my bottom lip between my teeth as Ryan walked away. Before he reached the door, I called out, “Hey, Ryan?”
“Yeah?” He stopped with his hand on the doorknob.
“I’m sorry I worried Tanner and made you come looking for me,” I apologized.
“Hey, you’re the one who’s going to have to suck up to him to win his forgiveness.” Ryan chuckled and let out a low whistle. “I donotenvy you.”
“Gee, thanks.” I slumped against Daddy, wrapping my arms around his waist until we were alone. “Are you going to get all grizzly bear any time a guy tries to talk to me now?”
“I will if you’re still flying high from an intense scene.” The firm tone of his voice left no doubt how serious he was. “My job is to protect you, and when you’re not thinking clearly, yeah, I’m going to be a bit possessive.”
“I can live with that.” I pressed a kiss to the center of his chest. “And thank you for tonight. I was hoping we’d get to talk to Doctor B a little bit. Is he really a friend of yours?”
“He was for many years,” Daddy replied, a hint of sadness in his voice now.
“What happened?”
“That’s a story for another time.” I didn’t feel like he was blowing me off, and with how somber he looked, maybe it was a good thing we didn’t talk about it now. “And when we’re not in a scene, his name is Blake.”
Huh. He didn’t strike me as a Blake but, then again, we didn’t exactly do much talking and I was preoccupied most of the time.
“What do you say we get out of here? It’s supposed to rain tomorrow, so I was thinking we’d ride out to my place so I can get my car.” He scooped my dirty robe off the end of the couch and tossed it in the laundry hamper by the door. When I caught up to him, he slid a hand down by back to my ass. He spread his fingers, dragging one through my crease with just enough pressure to make me flinch.
He was trying to kill me. I almost pointed out I couldn’t exactly get on the bike in this state, but something told me he knew exactly what he was doing. We didn’t stop to chat with anyone on our way through either side of the club, and no one got in our way. It was like they all knew Daddy was on a mission.
Every nerve in my ass came to life when it was time for me to throw my leg over the seat of the bike and settle in. Daddy was careful to make sure he didn’t hit any bumps or potholes if he could avoid them, but that did little to keep my arousal at bay. It felt like having a vibrating plug shoved up there with no relief.
I was out of my mind with need by the time we reach city limits and Daddy sped down the highway. If it wouldn’t be dangerous, I’d have reached down and rubbed one out right there, spurting all over his back. As he slowed to take the turn leading to his family’s property, he reached back and rubbed my leg.
“You good back there?” he shouted.
Just fucking peachy, was the response I wanted to bite out, but I knew damn well that would earn me a spanking later. “Yes, Daddy.”
“Good.” He patted my leg once more, then placed his hand back on the handlebar.
I didn’t relax the entire way down the winding road. The highway didn’t freak me out because it was mostly straight, but now that we were going slower and there were tight turns, one after the other, I couldn’t help but imagine the bike tipping. We’d wind up in the hospital, and everyone there would know what we’d been up to before the accident.
Oddly, the dirt path leading back to the property wasn’t nearly as scary to me. It meant we were almost back to his place.
“Well fuck,” Daddy muttered when we reached the gate. It was open, and I assumed that had something to do with his reaction. He came to a stop and twisted around to face me. “Baby, when I stop the bike and tell you to, I need you to go straight into the trailer. If I’m not behind you, know that I’ll be there as soon as I can. I’m not going to let anyone who’s out here ruin tonight for you.”
“I understand.” It annoyed the shit out of me that I was still hiding from everyone in his life, but I was trying to believe there was a reason for it.
There was no way in hell he was hiding me from another lover; we spent way too much time together for that. But, eventually, he was going to have to give me more to go on than they weren’t the type of people he wanted me exposed to. He might have only recently admitted to his attraction to men—or at least to one man—but he wasn’t stupid. Being unapologetically me, I’d been subjected to more than my fair share of bigoted ass wipes. I knew how to deal with them.
But what if the problem is him not wanting them to see him with you?The little voice inside my head was a dick sometimes. Yes, he’d said he loved me, but it wouldn’t be the first time I’d heard that from someone who wanted to change me. Hell, most of the time that was the turning point, like I should be willing to bow to their idea of how femme was acceptable because they’d said three hollow words.
He’s never given you a reason to doubt him, another voice piped up. Great, now I had the angel and devil arguing on my shoulders, giving me a headache.
