Drew’s expression softened from a TV-ready polish to something warmer, like he was moved at what I was saying.
Dorian turned to Drew. “And how about you? What are your three words to describe the chemistry you have with Emilia?”
He caught my eye and the intensity in his stare sent a spike of warmth through my chest.
“Oh, that’s a tough one. Not because I can’t come up with any, though. I have too many. Our chemistry? Transcendent. Creative. Endless. Scalding. Peerless. Intuitive. Emotional. Artistic.”
“Whoa,” Dorian said. “Exactly what are you two doing between the sheets?”
We both laughed, but I had to wonder if the conversation was having the same effect on Drew as it was on me. I was fighting off full body tremors just thinking about the way his hands felt on my body. Creative? Oh yeah, some of the positions we got into felt too advanced for the Kama Sutra.
I needed more.Now.
Focusing on the rest of the interview became increasingly difficult, because we both kept finding ways to secretly tease each other. Drew stroked the back of my hand with his thumb, which made me flatten my hand around his thigh then slowly inch it upwards. Whenever we glanced at each other our eyes snagged, and I managed to lick my lips so that only Drew caught it. I could tell the gesture had the intended effect when he cleared his throat and shifted so his blazer was covering his midsection.
There was no way we were going to be able to wait until we got home. Despite our fiction, we really weren’t desperate enough to settle for a storage closet but his office doorhadto have a lock on it.
Wait. Hold on. We were in a freaking resort. We had upwards of six hundred options open to us where we could get it on.
If only we could end the damn interview without being too obvious how desperate we were.
“Okay folks, I think that’s a wrap,” Dorian said. “Unless you have anything to add?”
Drew was already on his feet struggling with his lapel mic. We were clearly on the same page. “Nope, all good. We need to run, though, so a little help unwiring us would be appreciated.”
I tried not to giggle at the way he was rushing to get the thing off.
Someone from the show paused to ask us a few questions and I swore I could see the last of Drew’s patience eroding bit by bit. By the time he took my hand and started leading me down through the resort, the last of that even-keel veneer was slipping away.
He pulled me towards the elevator even though the staff offices were on the main floor.
“Hold on, what are we …”
He smirked at me. “Don’t play coy. You know exactly what we’re about to do.”
The elevator doors opened. I thought we’d be able to start our fun once they closed, but we were joined by a couple with a baby.
Drew scanned his phone as we ascended, and the moment the family exited the elevator, he slammed a key card against the control panel, picking the floor he wanted. He exited wordlessly, and I figured outthat he was trying to maintain an air of professionalism considering the billions of cameras spread throughout the place.
I jogged to keep up with him. “Do you have a skeleton key?”
He held up a white plastic card with no writing on it. “Access to any room at any time. I’m the only one who has it.”
He slapped the card against the pad and the door clicked open. I was barely across the threshold when I was whipped off my feet.
“I’ve been dying for you,” Drew growled as he flung me over his shoulder. I burst out laughing and pretended to pound on his back with my fists.
He placed me on the bed and stared down at me.
“Brand new.” He pointed to the bed.
“I’m sorry?” I asked, confused by his non sequitur.
“We’re replacing all of the beds in the hotel and no one has used this room yet. We’re christening it.”
I slid backwards until I was flat on the mattress. “Totally worth the investment. It’s incredibly comfortable,” I flirted. “You should join me.”
He worked at the tie around his neck and wrenched it off.
