I stare at her with confusion, because I didn’t think I was up to anything. I was trying not to be awkward, and I wanted to touch her, so I just went with it.
Remi’s smile turns into a smirk. “You think I didn’t see you eying my breakfast,” she gives an indignant huff. “After all the shit you three gave me about hunting and that you’d be fine eating canned food, you better think twice about trying to to butter me up now. This is my meat. And I love my meat,” she says with a suggestive smirk.
“Hey,” I object. “I’m pretty sure Madix was the only one giving you crap. Brant and I were quiet as church mice on that issue.”
Remi flicks the tip of my nose and tsks at me. “Oh, yeah. You were quiet, alright, but you still stuffed your bags with canned food. Actions speak louder than words, GI Joe, and you, sir, ain’t getting any of my rabbit!”
I give her an indignant look and then shoot one to Brant when he starts to chuckle. I adopt an innocent mein and run my nose over Remi’s neck. “Don’t be like that. I thought you were a fan of sharing,” I tease with a wicked smile on my face to match the tone in my voice. “Let me eat some of your rabbit, baby.”
Remi chuckles, but I don’t miss the the goose bumps that rise on her skin or her hard nipples making themselves known through her shirt.
“Well, baby,” she coos at me, and I swallow when she starts to slowly unbutton her black pants. “I wouldn’t want to starve a growing boy, so I’ll let you go right ahead and eat myrabbit. If you think you can handle it.”
All thought of the meat she’s cooking flies right out of my head. I hone in on Remi as she moves to lower her zipper.Fuck yes, I cheer to myself, as I instantly get hard at the thought of her wet pussy and the noises she would make with my head buried between her thighs. That would be the best breakfast ever.
“You two knock it off,” Madix barks at us. “We don’t have time for this shit. We need to get back as soon as possible where it’s safe, and then you can go at it likerabbits,” he says, his annoyance and anger practically throwing a cold bucket of water on me.
“Oh, come on, Mady. You can have a taste too, if you’re hungry,” Remi grins with a wink.
“I told you, don’t fucking call me that. There’s a time and a place for this, but now isn’t the time,” Madix growls at her.
“Dude, chill,” Brant warns.
“I’ll chill when we’re safe in our beds again. Until then, maybe everyone needs to remember what the fuck we’re doing out here. I’ll pack up the tent. Everyone be ready to go in twenty minutes. We have a long-ass day ahead of us.”
Madix stomps off toward the tent and angrily starts to break it down. I spend about two seconds wanting to call him a prick and telling him he needs to get laid, but truthfully, he’s right. Just because we’re not immediately being affected by what’s happening in the bigger cities, doesn’t mean we should lose sight of what’s going on.
“I’ll help with the sleeping bags,” I mumble. “Brant, you scan the campsite. Make sure we don’t leave anything we need behind.”
Brant nods, and I move Remi off of my lap. I look at her, worried about what I might see in her face. I expect some type of pissed-off emotion to be radiating from her, but she just gives me a smile and returns her focus to cooking the rabbits. I lean in and steal a kiss, because apparently I’m needy like that now, and Remi obliges and nips at my lip as I pull away. I ignore the pulse beating in my cock, and focus on what needs to get done.
We get the entire camp broken down and packed up in less than ten minutes. We work silently and efficiently, just like always. I turn to ask Remi how much more time she needs to get ready, but she already has her pack on her shoulders, and she’s kicking dirt on the fire to strangle it. It’s out in no time, and she’s off, nibbling on her rabbit kabobs and walking in the direction that Madix just announced we need to go in. At least he seems to be taking a more direct route back to town.
For a slim girl, Remi can sure as fuck pack it in. I spend the first hour thinking at some point she’d announce she was full and pass off a leg of meat or two. But nope, she devoured both bunnies and discarded the bones when she was done. Not even Puddles was spared a bite of Thumper.
I’ve spent the last hour coming up with a plan to convince Remi of my absolute devotion to her and her hunting abilities, and I feel confident that tonight I’ll be dining on the spoils of her mad skills. Why I listened to Madix in the first place, I’ll never know. I’m going to blame it on shock from the accident. I’m positive her rabbit meat was delicious, if her littleMmm’swere any indication.
By late morning, Remi has once again become our unofficial leader. Madix keeps his death grip on the map, but Remi seems to know where she’s going without it. Every now and then, Madix gives a grunt of frustration and double-checks where we are, certain that she’s leading us in the wrong direction, but he’s been wrong every time. It’s making him turn into an even bigger asshole than usual.
Fun times.
“So, boys, how’s Leonard Coleman’s old house treating you?” Remi asks, as she pushes a low-hanging evergreen branch out of her way. “It took me a minute to connect who your uncle was, Theo, but I can put a face to a name now. He had that two story off of X and ¾ Road didn’t he?”
Brant and I laugh. “Yep, that’s the one. And why the hell do they have roads named after letters and weird ass measurements? Did you map the town’s streets to read as O’s and 18/19ths as part of your pranks?” I joke.
“I wish I could take credit for that, but nope. Endstone is just weird like that. Who knows why that town does anything that it does? Your guess is as good as mine,” she announces, as she looks up at the sky for a couple of seconds before veering of to the right.
I try to hide my smile, knowing Madix is probably going to have that map open in less than a second, just to get pissed off again that she’s right.
“My uncle’s place was pretty dated, but we’ve been fixing it up,” I tell her. “We updated the kitchen and the bathrooms, redid the flooring throughout the whole house, and we’re in the process of replacing the roof. Once all that’s done, we’ll paint, and she’ll be as good as new,” I tell her proudly. “We’ve kicked ass on the house project, and it’s almost unrecognizable on the inside now.”
“That’s cool, I’d love to see it,” she tells us nonchalantly, and I don’t miss the twitch that sneaks through Madix.
Apparently, neither does Remi, because she turns to him. “Before you go reading too much into that, I’m not inviting myself to move in, I’m just curious about the work you did. I have my own house up on P road that probably needs some TLC at this point.”
“If you own a house in town, why don’t you live there?” Madix asks, voicing the question that Brant and I are both thinking.
“It was passed down from my mom’s side of the family. I never wanted to live in it. I knew at around fifteen that Endstone wasn’t the place for me.” Remi grows quiet, and I wait for her to elaborate, but she doesn’t.
