That was strangely easy.

He held his hand out to me, and I hesitated, feeling on the edge of a precipice.

I knew taking it was dangerous, but time was of the essence, and I needed to know what I was truly capable of.

Perhaps I could persuade the wolves to let Mercy go...if I offered something in her place.

Like myself.

I set my hand in his sweaty palm, and let him drag me to the bar.He hooted and hollered for the bartender to whip us up some margaritas on the rocks, with fresh shots of tequila, and to my surprise they were delivered rather quickly. He held his shot up to me, toasting me and as we both shot them back, I felt the stinging burn in my throat, edging me further.

The warmth it spread within me was...not all that bad.

I felt a little better, a little looser as I looked around the restaurant, still no sign of Endor.

“Whats you say we haves us a little dance, eh, Princess?”he said, snickering as he slid his hand around my waist.

Instantly, I panicked, his touch making me feel all sorts of uncomfortable.

But I was already in for a penny, I might have well been in for a pound.Besides, I needed to know what I was capable of and how far I could go to ensure Mercy’s safe departure.

And Endor’s safety as well.

So I smiled, leaning into tall, dark, and average, and I let him run his sweaty hands over my ass as he pulled me to the dance floor.

The music that was playing wasn’t my usual type of music. The jukebox shifted, a new track online that was equal parts slow and robust, and my lackluster test subject had no rhythm.

But perhaps rhythm wasn’t what he wanted anyway, as he basically ground himself against me, his hot breath on my neck making my skin crawl. But I stuffed down my feelings, in favor of placating him, sliding my hand over his hip, slowly drawing my fingers across his back jeans pocket. The hardness that protruded from his pocket told me it was the right one that held his wallet.

A rush of shame and guilt ransacked me as I realized what I was truly considering doing.

I’d never stolen anything in my life. But if I was capable of pushing past my fears and my own boundaries...

I rationed that it was a means to an end.Anything I needed to do to ensure Mercy’s life, was a risk I was willing to take.

And there was only so much Endor and I could get away with on looks alone.

I focused my attention on him as I brought my free hand to his front, settling my fingers on his waistband, teasing him with their proximity.

The floundering erection he pressed against me made me want to throw up, but I kept my busy hand...busy.

Sliding my fingers in his pocket, I gracefully tugged the worn leather square, inching it out bit by bit until it was solidly in my hand.

“Whatta ya say you and I go back to my place?”he breathed, his chapped lips too close to my neck for comfort.

I gracefully pulled my arm back, shifting his body so I could slip his wallet into my own pocket, flashing my eyelashes at him again.

And then I felt it.The undeniablepullI’d felt before when Mercy fell into her vision. My body broke out in a sweat, my breathing hitched, and Mr.Not Perfect only smiled, thinking it washimwho had this effect on me.

Perhaps this is my retribution for the crime I’d just committed.

“I—” I needed to leave, I needed to find somewhere safe, somewhere I could lie down...

I fell against him as my knees buckled, as green glowing lights called me to follow them down the dark rabbit hole.

My fingers sought purchase in his shoulder as I braced for the shock, and he whistled, clearly pleased with what he thought was a victory.

How wrong he is...
