“I believe it is your turn to read me?” she asked, as if nothing had happened between us. Though the way she raised her eyebrow, the way she spoke was much different than yesterday. It was almost as if she was challenging me.

As if she wasn’t in my lap twenty-four hours ago, grinding on my cock and driving me into oblivion with just her mouth.

I grabbed the bag off of her, our fingertips touching once more. Where there were pink and purple sparks yesterday, today there was bright orange and redflameserupting from my fingertips.

Well, that’s new.

I’ve never reacted to runes like this before...

I poured the runes from the bag, watching as they fell where fate divined them.

Violet licked her lips, looking at me.

“Quite demanding today, aren’t you? A full belly and a warm bed does wonders for you, apparently,” I nipped.

“Yes, well, food and slumber aren’t the only things I give credit for a positive mood,” she said with a sly grin.

You are truly going to kill me, Violet McCreanor!

I decided to ignore her flirtation, if only because I knew if I didn’t, I would be far to tempted to covet her once more and whisk us away from this wretched class just to keep her smiling.

And my heart from jumping out of my chest.

“This rune here indicates a new beginning,” I said as I looked at the tiny etched symbol.

“Well, no offense, but that’s the most generic response ever,” she said.

“It is true, I do not make up the rules!” I said as I gestured to the rune.

She twisted her lips as she regaled me with a playful look that told me to continue.

“But this one means bold, strong.” I pointed the one next to it. The energy around Violet was more pronounced, casting a haze of pink and purple over her aura, and it called my own energy like a magnet.

“I think that means now that you have awakened, you’re going to be quite intimidating,” I said with a smirk.

Violet rolled her eyes. “Now you’re just telling me what you think I want to hear,” she said.

I shook my head. “I tell you the truth, the runes only echo it because it istrue,” I said as I moved to the final rune.

“This one...” I stopped as I considered my words. The rune in question spoke of a great love. A phenomenal love that transcended everything.

A legendary kind of love, that Violet more than deserved.

I was jealous. Never did my runes or my scrying practices reveal great love to me. It was always the same for me—passion, disaster. Not enough value in the depth of things.

Except yesterday, Professor O’Connor had said my runes signified great pleasure after destruction.

Violet had felt an overwhelming sense of love, but perhaps it was because she was quite loving herself... right?

I focused my breath as I told her the truth.

As I always would, no matter how difficult.

“This one means you will rule over everything, with great love by your side. You and Mr. Right will tackle the world,” I said, forcing a smile.

Violet’s gaze softened, a wistful look overtaking her delicate, Fae features.

“Whoever he is, he’s a lucky specimen,” I said as I sat back in my chair, my fingers trailing over the rune to keep from fidgeting in my seat.
