LaDonna began screaming and cursing about this whole thing being ridiculous and she wouldn’t stand for it.Then as they dragged her down the hall she reached out and tried to stop their progress by gripping the door frames.
When they finally got her inside the cell area and shut the door behind her, the total silence felt almost strange.
Sergi closed his eyes for a moment.
From her area, Serenity gasped softly.
He turned to look at her.“Chto eto takoye.What is it?”
Serenity was studying the camera view inside the cell area.She looked up and motioned for him to look at the screens.“What do you see?”
Sergi looked at the frames, but he wasn’t sure what he should be looking for and asked, “What do you mean?”
Serenity glanced at him.“Look at her shoes,” she hinted softly.
Sergi stared at her then looked back at the screen.At first, he didn’t see anything wrong with her shoes but then he looked a bit closer.That was when he noticed the wear and tear on the souls of her shoes.Her heels looked scuffed.He also noted the caked mud and gravel embedded in the bottom of her shoes.Then he noticed the fraying of the bottom of her jeans.He was finally beginning to see what Serenity saw.“Da, interesting.”
Yuri studied the woman as well.But he didn’t see what they had and he turned to Serenity.“What are you two talking about?”
Sergi pointed out the woman’s shoes.“Those are well used shoes.And look at the bottom of her jeans, that can only happen when the jeans are too long and you walk on the seams.The rest of the shoes look relatively new but you can see the grit in the treads.”
Yuri leaned in close and studied what Sergi was pointing out.He grunted then looked up at the older man.“She can walk, can’t she?”
Sergi nodded.“Da, I think that’s a safe bet.”His eyes narrowed as he watched the video feed.She had been busy giving the security men grief for searching her body.Slapping them as their hands slipped around her back and her chair.Then they finally pushed her inside the cell and closed the door.She watched as they turned the key in the lock and one of them slipped the key into his own pocket.
Sergi looked over at Kosta.“Keep eyes on her at all times.In fact, record her in the cell so we have proof, irrevocable proof that she can walk.We might need it when we present her to the other factions.We will definitely need it for the Council.”
Yuri paused to ask, “You are taking her to Russia?”
Sergi shrugged.“Why not?She put the Bratva name at risk, did she not?She should stand before the Council for her crimes.”
Yuri raised his brow.“The Council will swallow her whole and spit out her bones.”
Chapter Two
Sergi smiled faintly.“Maybe they will, but she made the choice to thumb her nose at them and us.She will pay the price for being stupid.”He looked at Nicky and shrugged.“What is that saying, FAAFO?”
