“To the hospital right away, guys”the doctor says.
Max drives while Logan caresses my back and we breathe together.
“You know you are beautiful,”he tries to distract me and manages it for a while, at least until the next contraction.
“We're almost there, hold on, little sis,”Max says worried.
“Thanks, Max”
The doctor was already there waiting for us and makes us go straight to our room. They make me wear those absurd overalls but at least it is white and light blue and in the meantime they connect me to a machine to track the contractions.
As soon as I lie down, I feel like I have to go to the bathroom but I don't have time to get up and I feel an absurd quantity of liquid come out.
“Logan, call the doctor right away,”I tell him and he does.
The contractions increase and my breathing gets faster and faster.
“Kate, what's up?”the doctor asks, then looks at me and smiles. “Your water broke, excellent. Now relax and breathe, everything is fine and you’re doing good, mommy.”
I nod as a contraction almost makes me scream. It literally takes me off guard.
The dilatation is progressing very quickly, so much that they told me that they will not be able to give me an epidural. But it wasn’t a problem. I'm excited but dammit it hurts a lot.
“We are already at ten, Kate, take a deep breath and when you feel the contraction coming, push. Logan, massage her back. “He nods.
“Oh, my God, I feel it coming.”
“Very good, push, Kate!” I am too ashamed to scream and I squeeze Logan’s hand.“Come on, love, you are amazing”and he earns a look while he is all excited.
“Okay, Kate I already see the baby's head, push as hard and as long as you can and breathe.”
I don't have to have it repeated and after I push twice, the baby comes out. He begins to scream at the top of his lungs and I cry smiling. Logan cuts the cord and the nurses take him away. After a few minutes I start to feel the need to push again.
“Come on, Kate, you've already done it before, take a deep breath and push,”and I do it, I push as if my life depended on it. After the last push, I hear the baby's cry and I burst into tears while Logan embraces and kisses me.“You’re amazing, baby. They’re here. I love you, babe!”
When they give us the babies, I am so overwhelmed by emotions. I'm a mom and these two little ones are perfect. Ethan and Alexander.
“Mr. and Mrs. Reed, congratulations on both the wonderful wedding and this wonderful event. This is a nice wedding gift, Logan, I bet you can’t give her something so special. “
I laugh.“Pain aside, I would do it again.” Ilook at Logan and see him excited, his eyes in tears.
What's sexier than watching your husband in a tuxedo cradling your children?
I'm on cloud nine, I never would have imagined I could experience so much happiness.
EPILOGUE
A year later
Ethan and Alexander are wonderful children. Ethan looks a lot like Logan and Alexander is my copy. Both with a pretty good temper and now that they started walking, I cannot relax for a moment. Angel is the best sister in the world and Nellie has become like a sister to me, or rather a real sister in law. Max and Nellie got married a few months after our wedding.
Max, Logan and I, along with Hewitt and Reyes, have opened a security agency while Roberts is now a team leader. We no longer have to worry about travel or missions. Our only mission now is to be happy forever.
February 14th has always been a romantic day and we decided to leave the children with Nanny Emily while we go out on a double date.
Nellie and I became very close. In fact, at the end of our dinner, we put a small gift in front of our husbands. Wrapped in the same way, the boys burst out laughing.
Max opens it first and his eyes become huge.“Are we expecting a baby?”and Nellie nods.
