“Good job, El and good job, Willow.You’re quite the instructor,” Trip said.
“She’s an easy study, our Luna,” Willow returned.
“So, the reason we tracked you down is we want to order pizza,” El told them.
“Okay, which pizza joint is your favorite?We can send Adam out,” Ryan told her.
“Will he mind?That seems a bit below his pay grade.”
“There’s not a low Adam minds doing.He’ll be fine.”
“Okay, well Willow since you’re the guest, you pick,” El said.
“I love all pizza, and I haven’t had any from here in the city, so I’d like to try something one of you all recommend.”
“How about that place over on Lakeside?”Shawn asked.
“Yes, I love that place,” El said her mouth already watering.
“Sounds like it’s the place over on Lakeside then,” Trip laughed.
Ryan pulled out his cell phone, and his fingers flew across the screen no doubt texting Adam.
“Willow, are you a tracker?”Trip asked while they all waited.He also extended his hand to her gesturing for her to have a seat on one of the many patio chairs that lined the area.
“No, I just have experience helping shifters fine-tune their skills.”
“That’s an interesting trait for a healer,” Marcus commented.
“It’s a wonderful trait,” El said, giving Marcus a pointed look for what she thought was a rude comment.
“I didn’t mean any offense,” Marcus retorted.
“None taken,” Willow replied.
“Do you have a family, Willow?”Shawn asked.
“No, just myself.My mother passed on not long ago.”
“I’m sorry to hear about your loss,” El said.
“She lived a beautiful life.”
“Your father?”El asked, immediately wishing she hadn’t.She wanted to know more about Willow, but she didn’t want her to feel interrogated.
“My father and mother had a difference of opinion when I was little.I’m not sure where his life took him,” she said.
El felt like there was more there, but it wasn’t her place.
“I’m glad you’re here,” El said instead.
“Me too.What about your mother, El?”Willow asked.
“Well, funny you should ask.My birth mother didn’t raise me, although I didn’t know that until just recently.My birth mother is a shifter, and she took off for some reason when I was young.My father and her are true mates, but he doesn’t know where she is either.She showed up at his office today and put him under a weird trance-like state and told him to get me out of dodge, quick.”
Willow’s appearance changed instantly, and she stood up in a panic.
