I know. It’s fucked up, but I’ve never pretended to be a good man.

Now, she’s sitting in the office directly outside mine. I’m a control freak. I’m not used to having an assistant. I like to manage my own schedule. And fuck if I’m letting anyone else into my emails or my phone calls. The fact Caitlyn is now filling the otherwise-empty desk? Well, anyone who works for me knows better than to question my decisions.

I spent an hour going over the computer system and my calendar. I showed her times that absolutely never get booked for meetings and times I was available. I then had my calls redirected to her line. It’s been an awfully quiet morning.

Not that I’ve been able to focus on anything, because I can’t get my mind off how good it felt to be inside her this morning, and now all I’m thinking about is how soon I can fuck her again.

Movement through my window catches my eye, and a groan slips from my throat. My sister, a person who never visits me in the office, is at Caitlyn’s desk talking to her.

I stand, storm around my desk, and pull my door open. “Mabilia, is there a reason you're interrupting my staff?” I ask her.

“Yes, I’m getting to know my new sister, Neo. You need to give her an extended lunch break. We’re going shopping.”

“No, you’re not.” Like hell am I letting Caitlyn out of my sight. And who the fuck knows what shit my sister will fill her head with?

Caitlyn looks from me to Mabilia. “It’s okay. Maybe we could do something on the weekend if you still wanted to?”

Fuck, maybe I should let her go shopping. She does need clothes and shit for work. I didn’t say anything this morning when she put on a tight-fitted skirt and white blouse she pulledout from her single bag. Caitlyn looks good in anything she wears, but she will need more than what she has if she’s going to be here every day. There’s also the fact she doesn’t know anyone and doesn’t have any friends in this city. As insane as my sister is, I know she will protect Caitlyn.

“Actually, you should go.” I sigh. “Mabilia, I’d like a word first.” I walk back into my office, knowing my sister will follow.

“I really thought finding love would make you not so grouchy. I was wrong,” my sister says as soon as the door closes behind her.

“You can’t leave her alone, not even for a fucking second,” I say, keeping my voice low. “If you see this guy hanging around, alert the men who will be tailing you two.” I show her a picture of Henry.

“Who is he and what’d he do to her?” Mabilia asks.

“Her ex, used her for a punching bag for years. He’s looking for her.”

“If I see him, I’ll kill him.” My sister lifts a shoulder.

“No, I want him alive,” I grunt.Iwant to be the one to kill the fucker.

“Why do you insist on taking all the fun out of life?” Mabilia grumbles before spinning around and leaving the way she came.

“Caitlyn, come here!” I shout as Mabilia exits. “Shut the door,” I tell her when she appears on the threshold.

She does as she’s told, then walks farther into the office. “I really don’t need to go, Neo. I didn’t ask her to do that.”

“I know you didn’t.” I smile and watch as Caitlyn’s body relaxes.Did she think I was angry at her?“I want you to go get whatever you want and need.” I pick up my wallet and pull out a black credit card. “Take this. There’s no limit on it.”

Her eyes widen and she shakes her head. “You have already given me so much. I can’t take your money to go shopping.”

“Yes, you can,” I tell her more firmly and instantly regret it when she flinches. “I want you to have everything you’ve ever wanted and more, Caitlyn. I want to be the one to give that to you.”

“Why?” she asks.

“I can’t explain it, but I just know you are the other half of my soul. Don’t you feel it? Didn’t you feel it this morning?” I raise a brow at her. I know she feels it. It scares her, and she’s trying not to let herself feel our connection.

“My head isn’t really in a good place right now,” she says instead of answering me.

“I can wait. But, in the meantime, you are mine, Caitlyn, and I take care of what’s mine. Get some new clothes for work, for home, and whatever else you need,” I tell her. “If it makes you feel better, I’ll take it out of your salary.” I shrug, having absolutely no intention of doing that at all. But if it gets her to use the card, what’s the harm in a little white lie?

“Okay. Thank you.” She reaches out and grabs the card from my hand.

Stepping closer to her, I wrap my arm around her back. “Don’t fight it too much, whatever this is. It’s not going to go away.” I lean down and press my lips against hers.

The moment our mouths touch, her body melts into mine. I step away, before I have her spread out on my desk, and make no attempt at hiding the fact I have to adjust my pants. “I’ll see you when you get back.”
