Don’t forget to breathe, Ray.

We finish breakfast, and Koby sends me to my room to get changed and collect my things. It’s December, so it’s going to be hot.Definitely want to have a dip while we are there.I’ve bought some swimmers that cover me completely, and I feel so comfortable in them.One-piece with shorts and sleeves that come down to my elbows.I make sure to collect my eReader, and head down.I grab the small pop up tent from the garage so I can read and not have the sun wash out the screen.

Starting the car while I wait for Koby, I press the button to open the garage door.He rounds the corner and jumps into the car.

“It’s early enough.Do you want to go to Bronte, and check into the house on the way home?”

“Not at all.Liam has everything organised. He’s been keeping me updated every other day, and I have a site visit scheduled with him in a week.Let’s just go to Coogee and enjoy it.No agendas to tick off.”

The drive to the beach is divine.Koby’s hand stays on my thigh as we chat comfortably. As he normally does, he carries everything to the sand, but holds my hand as we walk.

I set up the pop up tent on the sand, but it’s a deliciously tight fit as we lie on our backs, arms stacked on each other.Koby’s wide shoulders strain the nylon wall on his side, and my shoulder skims the wall on my side.

My eReader raised overhead as my legs warm in the morning sun, Koby on his phone. After a few chapters, I’m getting up to a spicy part of my book. This is when Koby’s eyes drift to my screen.

“And what are we reading here, Raven?”He wiggles closer to me to get a better angle.

“Just my book.”I’ve finished the page, and of all the pages, he did pick a good spicy scene to lay his eyes on.It’s the start, and while it’s not a super-dark romance scene, it is a scene that is a little rough.Hands around necks, dominating, being told what to do and then being called a ‘Good Girl’.Tick, tick, double tick.

“Mmm-hmmm,” He replies.“Do you like to only read it like this or enjoy it in the bedroom?”

I was not expecting him to be so forward and open.

I’m a little taken aback by his directness.

He moves himself to lie on his side facing me and snakes a hand across my waist.I wince a little at his hand touching my body through such thin material.Focus, I want to be as open as possible with him.

“Guess it’s something I have only read about at this point.I haven’t had the opportunity to be in a relationship to explore these.I know they aren’t new concepts, but this level, for me, needs to be with a partner I know and trust.I was probably not as confident to try at this level with Wes.”

My heart rate pummels inside my chest.

“So the other night when I put my hand around your neck was okay? What you would like?”He moves his hand up to my neck and gently runs his fingers across the skin.

Memories of that night flash through my mind.It really was perfect. He didn’t squeeze my neck too much, but the thrill of his hand around my neck, just holding something so delicate in hands so strong, was delicious and exactly what I was hoping it would feel like.

I nod.“It was okay.I did like your hand around my neck.”

He leans down to kiss me.My mouth instantly opens for his tongue. His hand stays loosely on my neck, and even that feels good.

When we break away, and in the spirit of being open, I ask, “What are you into?”

“I like to be dominant.Take care of my partner. But I’m all about communication.I need to know what’s going on in and out of the bedroom. If that’s something you’re willing to be a part of.”He winks at me, and blood rushes to my crotch.Yeah.I can get on board with this. That playful rider I met all those years ago is still there, after all these decades.

“Sure.”

“I need to cool off.Come with?”

Closing my eReader, I wave him out.No way we can both get out of this teeny, tiny tent at the same time.He smirks and shimmies out very gracefully.Extending his hand to help me up once I have placed our items in my bag and tucked them onto the tent at the back to avoid it moving too much while we’re not there weighting it down.

We don’t head out too deep and enjoy the cool water against our bodies.A welcome break from the hot December sun beating down on us.It’s humid, but the sea breeze doesn’t allow it to sit around too much.I feel so free.Holding his hand.In his embrace.Kissing between the waves.

Heading back to the house, I see a familiar car parked at the front of my terrace.

Exiting the garage, I embrace the tall, spectacularly gorgeous blonde woman waiting on the footpath.

“Bernie!How are you, lovely?”

“Argh, if people stop changing their entire Christmas orders so I can plan properly, it would be great!”
