Just before our lips could meet, I turned my head and gave her a kiss on the cheek. “That’ll have to do.”
Leo swallowed hard as her grip tightened around my waist. The feeling of my lips on her skin was clearly sending waves of desperation through her body.
But the truth was, I knew it wouldn’t do, not for either of us.

After our foot race,Kiera had picked out some soda for us to buy. But I’d insisted she take a ride in our metal chariot, giving her a hand into the cart.
Laid back, Kiera let us pile snacks on top of her. Looking down at her now, I licked my lips. The treats weren’t the only thing in our cart that looked delectable. All I wanted to do was open those boxes of candy and pour them over her body.
Lick the sugar off of her.
Clearly our time at the storage unit and that insane cheek kiss she’d given Leo had put all of us in a tizzy. I couldn’t stop thinking about how she felt on top of me, the way she’d look on top of Leo.
We’d shared before, but it had never felt like this. Never felt like I might die if I didn’t have her all day.
Kiera put her arms up along the sides of the cart, lounging back in her ride. “This is luxury.” After letting out a deep sigh, she sat up. “But I’m ready to stretch my legs.”
Leo and I offered our little prisoner some hands to hop out of the cart, helping her to her feet. I kept pushing the cart, leaving a few feet between me and them.
Even I could tell that stoic Leo was smitten with Kiera. I’d never seen her like this, eyes glued to her like if she looked away Kiera would evaporate. In my time knowing Leo, I’d only known her to be a ruthless, one-night-stand kind of lover. Too buttoned up to let anyone in.
But Kiera had a way of knocking down every wall in her path.
Mine included.
I wasn’t supposed to fall for her, the missing piece to The Oracle’s puzzle. But who could stop themself when their hostage looked likeher.
After a few minutes, Leo swept her arm under Kiera’s knees and off her feet. Leo positioned her in a fireman’s carry, over her shoulder for easy carrying. In Leo’s big arms, Kiera was being moved around like a little sandbag.
A mousey squeal came from Kiera’s lips as she giggled. “Leo!”
“Yes, Princess?” Leo grumbled as she trudged along the empty aisles of SaleMart.
“I can walk!” Unable to stop herself from laughing, Kiera’s face flushed as she looked back at me.
Nodding, Leo gave her ass a light spank. “But I want you close.”
Without waiting for Kiera to say more, Leo took off down the aisle. It started as a light job but quickly turned into a full on sprint. Moments like this were obvious reminders of Leo’s intense military training. It was news to me that even medics had to go through the same bootcamp and training as everyone else.
But Leo was prepared for battle, every part of it. The mess. The disaster. The clean up.
Guilt wracked my body as I watched Kiera laughing.
Keeping our secret from Leo was harder than I thought it would be. And it’d only been a day. I felt like I was lying to her, lying to her about the possibility that Kiera could really be into her.
Because as much as Kiera needed space to figure out how she really felt, I knew she wasn’t straight. No straight girl had ever touched me the way she had, and certainly hadn’t stuck around the morning after.
Letting out a sigh, I shook my head.
Kiera will tell Callahan when she’s ready.
I had no choice but to trust that.
After we’d fully traversed the store, Leo and Kiera guided us back to the checkout where the sleepy employee had been watching us on the security cameras.
