Confessional Transcript

-Isadora Aureline

PRODUCER:Did anyone surprise you during the challenge?

ISADORA:I wouldn’t say surprised.(pause)But I did notice how… expressive some omegas were. Very open with their distress.

PRODUCER:And that stood out to you?

ISADORA:Yes. I think emotional restraint is important. Especially for a pack with this level of responsibility.(she folds her hands)Vulnerability is one thing. Performance is another.

PRODUCER: You think some of the omegas were performing?

ISADORA:I think some of the omegas knew exactly what buttons to push to get the reaction they wanted.

-Thayer Ashbourne

PRODUCER:We wanted to get your thoughts on the Alpha Care challenge.

THAYER:have several.

PRODUCER:Go on.

THAYER:The premise was fine. Necessary, even. Watching how omegas respond under pressure tells you a lot.

PRODUCER:And how did you feel about the responses?

THAYER:Some were strategic. Some were… reactive.(Pause)

And one of them was clearly in distress.

PRODUCER:You’re referring to Florence’s panic response?

THAYER:I am.

PRODUCER:She recovered fairly quickly-

THAYER:Because she had to.

(Silence.)

THAYER:She was restrained. Blindfolded. Surrounded by unfamiliar alphas. And not one person whose job it is to safeguard participants intervened.

PRODUCER:We monitored the situation-

THAYER:Monitoring is not care. And don’t mistake her composure afterward for consent to what happened.

PRODUCER:Do you think she exaggerated her reaction?

THAYER:(bark of laughter.)No. I think some people perform distress when it benefits them. And some people experience it and then apologize for existing afterward. Florence did the latter.

PRODUCER:Does that concern you moving forward?

THAYER:It concerns me that you’re askingmethat question.(Beat)If this show intends to put omegas into situations designed to provoke vulnerability, then the absolute bare minimum is ensuring they’re protected when it happens. Anything less is exploitation.

PRODUCER:Final thoughts?
