Klyn waited at the side of the steps and offered her his hand to hold for support as she descended the steps. I wondered if he had been a gentleman of hers at one time. He let go of her hand as soon as she was on the ground, and together they walked towards the carriage. Her current gentlemen filed down the steps next. Right now, I knew my place was behind the youngest lookinggentleman.
Queen Octavia and Klyn walked at a leisurely pace to the carriage, and my excellent hearing wasconvenient.
“Klyn, you knew that River was a good possibility,” Queen Octaviasaid.
“Yes, you are right, my Queen. I did know that there was a good chance you would select River,” Klynquipped.
“I hope that you will be able to learn to like him,” she responded tohim.
“I plan on learning everything I can about your new young gentleman, my Queen,” Klynanswered.
I felt a knot in my stomach form. Just how clever was Klyn? Did he have resources, and how strong are they? If he finds anything, I will just explain myself. I have no ill intentions. My only intention is to steal the Queen’sheart.
