They look at Dante with fear in their eyes. He understands what is happening, steps forward and speaks.

“God must love you, because a miracle has just happened, run away and embrace your freedom or stay here and continue to live a life of absolute misery.”

Wow.

Dante is...an authority around here.

Without hesitation, everyone runs through the door, everyone except the child who is in a corner with his knees on his chest, tears mixing with the rain that falls from the roof. I approach him and sit down next to him and start talking.

“My name is Bruno, I know you must be afraid of me and of anyone in this room, but those two people there and me,” I point out to Sarah and my brother, “we want to take you home, if you let me try, I promise to get you out of this horrible place today, but you have to help me buddy, because the three of us alone can't make it without you.”

The kid stares at me and in between tears he asks me, “What do I have to do?”

“Do you think you can run?”

Using the back of his hand, he spreads the tears all over his face and nods his head.

“Well then, give me your hand and let's run.” I get up and he automatically holds on to me tightly, his hand feels cold.

I look at Sarah, feeling that something inside me has woken up, something that was dormant for a long time. She has a warm and loving emotion on her face that makes my legs feel like jelly.

“Dante, lead the way.” He nods and starts walking towards the door when an explosion rocks the entire house.
