“You taught me well.”
“Ha! That I did.” He busted into laughter.
There was no way I was going to tell him anything. Especially what I saw last night when I followed Sarah to the MC.
“Now that we got that out of the way.” I kept talking. It hurt to hear him like that, both sad and happy during a short conversation. He didn’t seem like his former self anymore nor his persona, the fucking Professor.Instead, he sounded like a desperate and extremely sensible man. “Any progress?”
“Yes, I’ve got a day and a place. I just need to find a way to get in there,” he replied.
“Okay, that’s good news. Right?” I said, genuinely glad for him.
“I still don’t know what to make of it. Let’s call it progress for the time being.”
There was the awkward silence again.
“Gotcha. Are you still on the same location?” I didn’t know what else to ask him at this point, and I needed to break the silence. I’d noticed that he was sad if I let the silence stay for too long.
“No, I’ve moved closer to the compound. From here I can scout their moves… Hey, one more thing. I’m sorry I’m always calling you at this hour. The fucking time difference kills me, and I guess I needed to hear a familiar voice.”
No Bruno, you didn’t call to hear my voice, you wanted to know something, anything about Sarah, but I appreciate the gesture.
“Don’t sweat it. I needed to wake up early anyway. Thanks for the wake-up call,” I told him instead of the damned truth.
“You are welcome. I’ll lie down for a bit. Talk later, okay?”
“Sure thing, Cuz. Take care of yourself.”
The line went dead.
Bruno sounds more and more defeated every day, as if he is without purpose or energy. I know this is hard for him. Fuck, it is hard for everyone. I’ve offered my help countless times, and he refuses every single time by not giving me exact locations of his whereabouts or promptly hanging up the phone.
What an idiot he can be sometimes.
Speaking of idiots, I’m one of those. I can’t believe I’m doing this.
While Rageeye-fucksSarah and covers her tats with make-up, I set up the fucking GPS like a nerd.
When Sarah started to get closer to the MC, trying to find something about Bruno, it was like watching an accident that’s about to happen without being able to intervene. Things went frombadtowhat the fuck is this shit?very fast.
When I saw her on the back of Rage’s bike, I made a judgment call right there and then. I needed to get involved before she made a stupid mistake, one of those mistakes that can’t be undone but will always regretted.
“I’m done here,” I say out loud enough for them to hear me, but somehow, they don’t. They are both focused on their make-up session. Is Sarah really into this biker?
No, that can’t be the case… right?
I shake my head and focus on the matter at hand.
Fuck, my stomach twists with the mere thought of Sarah going after Bruno.
It took a lot of planning. Rage and I spent the entire night contacting people willing to help, and in the end, the plan came together. But in a situation like this, a lot can go wrong, and if that happens then everything goes to hell.
Life and death weigh the same.
This is dangerous for her. She could die, and I could lose my cousin forever.
