Bruno's hoarse voice is on fire. That’s my cue, my way out of this situation. The man is obviously angry, and I don’t feel like listening to a silverback gorilla beating his chest and claiming his female over the radio.
I'm tired of being an idiot.
“Okay, kiddo, time to say our goodbyes. Smash that comm earpiece,” I say, with the calmest voice I can muster.
“What? No way Rage, I’m not going to do that!”
“Yes, you will.”
“Why?”
“It’s part of the plan. Why wouldn’t you do this?”
“Because I don’t want to, that’s why!”
I sigh heavily. “Where’s the Frenchman?”
“Never made it out of the meeting point. He took a knife to the throat.”
“Fuck! Kiddo, destroy that earpiece.”
“Okay, okay, I’ll see you when I get back.”
“I would like that. Over and out.”
Those are my last words.
A high-pitched noise comes over the speakers as the earpiece is smashed, representing an undeniable end to my story with Sarah. My stupid, chivalrous plan has been successful. I carried her straight into Bruno's arms and served her on a silver platter.
IDIOT.
Carter is sitting in front of me, still holding his head with his hands, blinking rapidly. I think we both thought Sarah wasn't going to survive that raid.
“Fuck, that was intense.”
“Yes, it was.” I lie back in my chair and sigh in exhaustion. I really thought I was going to lose her, and I realized in those brief minutes that losing her would be much worse than leaving her in Bruno's arms.
It's time for me to start aBeSarah Freetherapy and resume my life. After all, I am the president of one of the biggest MCs in the state.

“How long do you think it’s going to take for Bruno to call me?” Carter asks with a frown.
“You mean to threaten your life and make you shit your pants?”
“Huh-uh.”
“Minutes?” We both laugh, only Carter’s is out of uneasiness instead of amusement. “Strange that he hasn't already.” Who am I kidding? He will call him, but after he fucks Sarah senseless. That's what I would do if I were him.
