It’s really her.

Sarah.

An unstoppable desire makes me lunge to her, shoving her all the way back until she connects with the wall. Her lips and mine fuse in a desperate kiss. I have longed for her warm, tender lips for more than two years. I can’t believe it’s her, but my senses are telling me otherwise.

Taste, smell and touch match what I remember. It’s her!

It’s fucking her!

She wraps her arms around my neck, like she always does while battling my lips with the same desperation. The warmth of her tongue is exactly as I remember it.

Wait a minute. Wait a fucking minute!

I stop kissing her and break away from her arms.

“No, no, no. This can’t be happening,” I say while I gaze into her eyes. “What the fuck were you thinking?”

She looks at me in confusion and waves at me with her left hand, asking me to stop, touching her ear with the other.

“What? No way Rage. I’m not going to do that. Why? Because I don’t want to, that’s why,” she loudly says. “Never made it out of the meeting point. He took a knife in the throat.” She pauses. “Okay, okay, I’ll see you when I get back.”

She removes an earpiece, throws it to the ground and smashes it with her heel.

“Did you just say Rage?” I ask her.

“Do you have a safe place where we can talk?”

Is that a deflection?

“Bruno, wake up. We need to get off the streets.”

She’s right. This is not the time nor the place.

“Follow me,” I bark, grabbing her hand.

“Wait, let me go. We can’t be seen holding hands around here.”

“I don’t give a fuck.” I walk faster.

Shit!

I can’t believe she’s actually here.

I’m going to kill Carter.

I’m going to fucking kill Carter.

After a few minutes’ walking in silence, we reach the spot where my car is hidden.

Sarah looks shocked by it.

I open the door, and before I can jump in, I give her a hard look.

“Get in. Now.”
