GlitterDoctor: And Shep?

xVerity: Shep is welcome, too.

GlitterDoctor: He’s pretty quiet as far as kids go. He’ll be able to help with the little kids, and I’m sure Nikki will love him.

xVerity: As long as she can talk to him about Heaven, Locked and the time she met Haraleah, they’ll be best friends

At sixteen, Shep was more than able to stay home on his own, but since the Single Dads had started their babysitting ring, he’d insisted on staying with Parker to make sure nothing untoward happened. Jayne wasn’t sure what to make of his distrust in others. On one hand, after what they’d been through, Shep had every reason in the world not to trust a single soul. On the other, if he never opened his heart and gave well-meaning strangers the benefit of the doubt, he’d isolate himself from the rest of the world.

If Jayne could afford it and Shep consented to it, he wanted to enroll him in therapy, but right now, even though Jayne’s insurance through work covered psychiatric care, the co-pay was too much to afford. One day he’d make things right, but for now, he had to focus on making things normal. Once they had a home to call their own and some semblance of stability, Jayne would worry about what came next.

KnotMyProblem: you know, I’m salty AF that all you guys live so close that you can do things like host weekly babysitting rings

KnotMyProblem: I would be the best babysitter in the world, just FYI

LoveHarley: lol gross

LoveHarley: I’ll pass thnx :P

Jayne frowned.

GlitterDoctor: Come to think of it, Knot, how old is your kid? I know I haven’t been here for all that long, but I can’t remember a single time you’ve brought him up…

GlitterDoctor: Actually, I don’t even know if you have a boy or a girl. Both?

TeenDad2: LOL

TeenDad2: omg Glit I can’t believe no one told you

TD started to type a third reply when he was cut off by xV.

xVerity: I find it an important time to remind everyone that no Single Dad is required to disclose information about his child(ren), and that no other Single Dad who knows personal information about those child(ren) should share it without permission. Some people want to keep their kids offline or minimize their presence, and all of us need to respect that choice. Case in point, Harley.

LoveHarley: well I mean I talked about Evie. you guys just didnt get the full story.

KnotMyProblem: Yup, and Glit isn’t getting the full story about me, either ;)

KnotMyProblem: International man of mystery over here. You wanna find out about my kid(s)? You come to my New York penthouse and discover the truth for yourself

How frustrating. A trip to New York wasn’t in Jayne’s foreseeable future, so the mystery would have to remain unsolved.

GlitterDoctor: As much as I’d love to stay, I’ve got to get Parker ready to go. Tonight’s going to be the first night all week that I’m planning to be selfish, and you guys have NO idea how much I need a brain break.

Gwynning: You up to anything special, Glit?

Jayne smiled.

GlitterDoctor: You know, I don’t know yet. My plans are a little up in the air. I’m waiting to hear back from a couple people. Once I do, I’ll know more. But really, I’ve gtg you guys. I’ll be back in touch soon. Thank you for giving a shit about me :)

Earlier that week, late one night after work while Jayne had his head buried in his arms on the kitchen island, sobbing from the burden of the responsibilities he shouldered, Caleb had slid a hand over his back and whispered sweet words into Jayne’s ear that had given him the strength to get through the week.

Me. You. Everett.

Friday night.

We call the shots. All you need to worry about is having fun.

Jayne was ready for it.
