Ilooked down to see my twin sister’s name flashing on the screen. “Where are you and Raven?” I asked. “I thought you were going to be here an hour ago.”
“We’re on our way,” she said. “Or wewere. Something’s wrong with the Jeep. Can you come take a look?” I suddenly felt nervous, and I knew it was because Blaze was nervous. Twin shit was weird sometimes.
“Yeah, send me your location. I’ll be right there.”
“Don’t bring Dad,” she whispered.
Mother.Fucker.
“I won’t. On my way,” I promised.
Then I called Dash. “Meet me out front without drawing attention. Blaze called and said something’s wrong with the Jeep, but I think it’s more than that.”
“Do I need to grab Phoenix?” he asked.
“She asked me not to bring him.”
“Fuck,” he groaned. “I’ll be right there.”
Twenty minutes later, I turned into a parking lot to find Blaze and Raven standing beside Blaze’s Jeep with music blaring and towels awkwardly hanging from the doors.
“I don’t even fucking know what to expect,” Dash said before he got out. “Turn the fucking music down!”
Raven:We can’t. The guy stuck under the Jeep won’t stop screaming and we can’t hit him hard enough to knock him out. Please help.
Dash:Who is it?
How cute. They started a group chat for body removal.
Blaze:Jason Morris
“Fucking hell,” I heard Dash yell as he stomped back to my truck. He grabbed a tire iron from the bed and returned to the Jeep.
It took more than one hit, but Dash finally stood and gave us a satisfied nod.
Raven started talking the moment Blaze turned down the music. “He’s stuck. We’re not sure how.”
“Can you tell us something we don’t know?” Dash asked.
“That’s all that’s relevant at this time. We can explain the details at the clubhouse.”
“This better be fucking good,” he grumbled. “Flint, you got a jack?”
Jason wasn’t as stuck as we originally thought. Part of his hoodie, and only a little bit of him, got caught underneath her Jeep, but he slid out easily after we cut his hoodie off.
“What were your original plans?” Dash asked.
“We were going to bring him to the clubhouse,” Raven said.
“We didn’t mean to run him over. Well,Idid, but not until he recognized us and ran. Originally, we were just going to jump him.”
“And what were you going to do if the cops showed up before we did?”
“Tell them he tried to attack us. He’s already done it once.”
“You should’ve let the club handle Jason,” Dash said. I couldn’t tell if he was scolding them or giving them advice for next time.
“We tried to,” Blaze said. “But it’s been weeks, and he’s still out there living his life with no consequences.”
