“Family...” I breathe back at him. “I don’t remember what it’s like to have family I can rely on.”
He tugs me against his chest, and I might hate and love how much I love being held like this.
“You better get used to it, Ashton. You know my family is loud and obnoxious and entirely too involved in each other’s lives. My extended family is even worse. And you’re stuck with us now.”
“I’m having your baby, Jameson, not marrying you,” I try to snap back forcefully, but my voice breaks, ruining any forcefulness I’d hoped to have.
“We’ll see about that...” the arrogant ass growls, and I try to act like I didn’t hear him.
Kyrie throws her stuffed dinosaur to the floor, giving me my out, and her laughter turns to an angry cry I recognize as frustration.
Yeah, kiddo. I know the feeling.
I step out of Jamie’s hold and pick up the stuffed animal I’ve started calling King and grab a washcloth to clean up my drooly girl, feeling Jamie’s heavy gaze on me as I do it. And once I have Kyrie sitting on my hip and have worked up the nerve to look back at him, I find that cocky smile still plastered on his face.

My mom just asked me what I was reading on the beach and got excited because she’s already read it. She wants in Book Club now.

Of course she did. She bought it at the shop.
Ryker
You knew my mom read it when you picked it?
Dillan
Umm . . . Yes.
Ryker
You’re such a brat.
Rome
Yeah, she is.
Dillan
Maybe you should spank me.
Jamie
Maybe you should stop before I puke.
Kaleigh
You do know your moms all have their own book club, right?
Dillan
Where do you think my love of romance novels came from?
