Bryce snickered. “We should definitely make that our official discount policy.”

“Guys,” Rusty said. “You’re killing me.”

“ETA five minutes,” Grant said. He sped up as the next light turned green when, suddenly, a bang rang out from under the car and the front fender slumped forward. Grant spun the wheel to pull out of traffic and bring the car to a stop.

“What happened?” Faith asked, her hands pressed into the dashboard.

“One of the tires blow out,” Grant said. “Rusty, get over here!”

“On my way.”

“Spikes placed on the road,” Bryce said. “Red light camera commandeered, thank you city services… Grant! Men incoming from your left. Get her out!”

Grant yanked open the driver door and unbuckled Faith’s seat belt, dragging her out of the car to the curb.

“We’re compromised,” Rusty said. “Colt, do you have the CEO?”

“Taking cover now,” Colt said.

“Keep him safe.”

“Grant, head east!” Bryce shouted.

Grant popped up over the hood and fired down the street. Three men holding weapons scattered to take cover.

“I see three,” Grant said. “Bryce, get us out of here.”

“Working on it,” Bryce said.

Shots rang over the hood of the car as Faith screamed.

“There’s an alleyway behind the pizza joint to your left. Take it!” Bryce said.

Grant returned fire as bullets whizzed past him. The attackers hid behind cars, giving him just enough time to grab Faith’s hand and run through the alleyway onto the next street.

“NYPD is on the way,” Bryce said.

Grant, give me crossroads,” Rusty said.

“Corner of 7th Avenue and 48th street.”

“I’ll be there shortly.”

Grant looked around. “Bryce, any more of them?”

“I only see three,” Bryce said. “Keep moving. They’re in pursuit.”

“Almost there,” Rusty said. “Pulling up to your location now.”

A black Hummer screeched to a stop in front of Grant and Faith as they hid behind a cement planter. Rusty threw the door open. “Get in!”

Sirens could be heard in the distance as bullets pounded the Hummer.

“Shit!” Rusty yelled.

“Faith, stay down!,” Grant commanded.

Faith dropped to the floor of the car as Grant slid out the driver’s door behind Rusty.
