“Nah, Joe. I told you that motherfucker was one of a kind. Now you got me or what? I’m trying to enjoy my lil vacation.”
He was seated in the driver seat next to me seconds later.
“Aight bet. I’ll have Alexis send that over to you first thing in the morning. Enjoy your weekend.” He hung the phone up, and seconds later, I felt his eyes.
“Damn, we ain’t speaking?” I liked his ability to be who he was and still have that hood ass way of addressing someone.
“I was. You were on the phone, weren’t you? I didn’t want to interrupt that.”
“Yeah, okay. Don’t be getting nervous on me, Amaris.”
“Never that,” I lied through nervous laughter.
“Good.”
For the rest of the ride, we lived in our own thoughts while the radio played. There was no specific playlist, just a lot of Jeezy. He rapped along, which I tried not to laugh at, because he rapped like he felt the lyrics.
“You said you had something for me to sign, right?” I asked once we were on the plane headed to the island where we’d be staying for the weekend. He’d briefly explained the event to me, but sadly my mind short-circuited when he’d mentioned sex. I didn’t know much about the place where we were staying, but when I mentioned it to Aime, she’d giggled the whole lunch. It wasn’t until we were walking back to the apartment that she said something along the lines of me being turned out and finally explained the concept of the place. “As You Wish” was the theme of the weekend at Seventh Heaven.
“Something for you to sign. Yeah I did, but I thought about it.”
Confusion swept my features. “And?”
He sat back in the seat across from me, stretching his legs before responding.
He was so comfortable. “Neither of us benefit if this gets out, right? Meaning we both have something to lose, and I don’t like paper trails. Not only that but we already signed the NDA to come here. Theres no need for a second one. ”
“So you nixed the NDA, because you—the lawyer in the situation—don't like paper trails.”
He chuckled.
“When you say it like that, it sounds fucked up. Too late though, learn as I say not as I do. We good though.”
Our phones were collectedat the front desk when we checked in. He expected it, but I damn sure didn’t. It caught me completely off guard. Then we were shown to our room where it dawned on me that we were completely alone. No phones or anything to distract us, just him and me. Not only that, I was really doing this...wewere really about to do this.
My eyes landed on the bed in the center of the lavish hotel room. There was only one and a cage-like structure dangling from the ceiling. Why was I nervous? It wasn’t like we hadn’t shared a room before. Except last time we did, his assistant had messed up travel plans for a conference. He’d slept on the sofa and I took the bed because our hotel was booked and so were nearby hotels. It was different this time though. This time, the intention was to share this bed and much more.
“You good?” His voice made me turn around.
I nodded quickly. “Yes, Mr. John?—”
“Yo, you can drop that. I’ve been telling you to stop that Mr. Johnson shit for about a year now. Considering where we are and there’s a fucking cage right there.” He pointed. “I think you can call me Julian, just like I’ma call you by your name.”
I laughed. “Okay.” I set my bag down on the chair at the foot of the bed and went to the window. Though this room was oozing darkness and begging for nasty work, this view was simply breathtaking.
I felt his presence before he spoke. His hard body behind mine, purposely making contact. “You wanna get food, something to drink, and check out the amenities before we get to the evening?”
I turned around, knowing he was close but not expecting him to be so close.Damn he smelled good. He always did.
He caught me before I fell, his arm around my waist. “Yo, you clumsy as fuck.”
“Yes, I am, and yes, I would love something to eat so you can explain this whole thing to me.” I expected him to let me go, but he pulled me closer.
“Bet, but let me see something right quick though.”
His hand went to my neck, using his thumb to tilt my head upward. Those dark eyes danced around my face as if looking for an indication that I disagreed with what was happening. Then, when he didn’t see what he was looking for, he ducked his head, mashing his lips against mine. His other hand left my side, finding my ass.
Shit. This was... Fuck.
