“And you’re not going to tell her?”

“Someday I will. I didn’t fully fund it. I just invested enoughto get her started. A leg up never hurt, and as she said, I don’t want any part in the company. I didn’t take shares or decision power. This company is all hers.”

I hope she sees it that way when I do tell her. This is my way of supporting her dreams.

Ivory has been alone for too long. It’s time someone went to bat for her. That someone is going to be me.

CHAPTER FIFTY

IVORY

It’s official! The offer was accepted!

I can’t wait for you to see it.

PRESTON

Congratulations, baby! You own a house!

I can’t wait to see you!

IVORY

When will that be?

PRESTON

I’m not sure yet. Need to check about quarantine rules.

IVORY

PRESTON

Soon, Hollywood, so soon.

Love you, gottahit the field

IVORY

Love you, too. Good Luck!

The sale on my condo in L.A. closes today. The buyer paid cash making the sale quick and painless. Taylor handled everything including packing up my personal items and clothes to ship to Nashville. After a small bidding war—the Nashville real estate market is tough—my offer won out. I will officially have a house of my own two doors down from Gabby in a few short weeks.

Preston arrives in Nashville in a few days. He and Miller immediately packed up and met the Nashville team in New York. They stopped for another few games in Philly before they were expected to return to Nashville for a longer stretch of games. The team set Miller, Preston, and the pitcher up with temporary housing until the season ends. There isn’t enough time between games for them to find anything else, and with quarantine rules it was the easiest option.

Between the travel, games, testing rules, and other restrictions this season, Preston isn’t sure when I will be able to see him. The thought of us being in the same city, mere miles from each other, and not able to be together is hard. Preston and I have been apart as long as we were together. I’m impatient and want to see my boyfriend. But, I also understand the need for precautions. The pandemic has impacted so many. What are three more weeks in the grand scheme of things?

Though Nashville won’t be making the playoffs this year, Preston is finally able to play the game he loves. Even if he hasn’t outright admitted it, I know he moved to Nashville for me.

My dad finally called though and told me everything. I’m so mad at him for how he acted but if he hadn’t, then Preston wouldn’t be moving to Nashville at the same time as me. It’s crazy to think how vastly different life was six months ago.

By the time the season ends, I will have closed on my Nashville house. I can’t wait to move in and make it my own. In the meantime, I am still living with Gabby.
