“Who knows?” She shrugs. “We’re not privy to everything that goes on within the alliance. It’s for the best legally. He said they were dealing with those guys. Whatever that means.”

“I hope they get their stupid cunts kicked in,” Pete mutters.

“Are we done here?” Lana asks me.

“Yeah. I’ll run the contract past Shayne. We’ll sign it once we’ve all had a taste of the training.”

She nods. “I wouldn’t expect anything less.”

Pete opens the door for me, and I step out into the hallway.

I could head back to the room now, but I know Jay is in the security office with Owen and a couple of guys from another pack who’ve helped Lana out in the past.

I should really see what he’s found out before I head back to Robin’s suite.

Chapter One Hundred-Twenty-Six

Jay

Dr. Robert Morgan is a psychologist and an honest-to-God Zeta. Harper would be going crazy right now if he could meet this guy. I’m not so sure Dr. Morgan would like that. He’s very quiet and standoffish. If I hadn’t met him and been given his designation, I would have assumed he was just a regular Beta and maybe a bit of a weird guy.

I never would have guessed he was an Omega, and I definitely wouldn’t have assumed he was the psychic type. That’s not something I’ve ever come across in real life.

“So, you’re telling me the Omegas that Corvina brainwashed here in Goldcrest have all been given ways to keep him from possessing them if he were ever to attempt it?”

He nods. “He won’t find it easy or simple like he would have when they weren’t aware, and they know they need to tell Lana if they experience anything that might have been a possession attempt.”

It’s a good thing, for sure. Knowing how many Omegas were brainwashed and who they are makes it a lot easier to keep the potential of this threat under control. The fact that they’ve also been given ways to fight back if the worst were to happen makes it a lot less likely that Corvina will try to attack the academy from within.

“The list is small,” Owen adds, from where he’s standing, leaning back against the main desk.

“We have extra security outside the suites of those Omegas, and the only Beta he was using is currently healing in our medical ward. She hasn’t been well enough to see Dr. Morgan yet, but when she is, we’ll make sure she can’t be possessed again, either.”

“Possessedagain?” I ask, raising an eyebrow at him.

“Long story,” he says. “We’ll talk about it on the job. The point is, the immediate threat is contained.”

“And what about the external threat?” I ask, looking from Owen, to Dr. Morgan, to Morgan’s Alpha who’s sitting on chair off to the side as if he’s only here to escort his Zeta around.

“You’ve seen how every visitor is monitored here,” Owen says, looking past me. “Your Alpha’s at the door.”

I turn and see Falcon’s shadowy figure behind the frosted glass.

I go open the door and let him in.

He looks at everyone with a tight smile.

“Hey. How’s it going?”

“We’re talking about threats. We think we’ve got the internal threat covered.”

“The brainwashed Omegas?” he asks as he closes the door behind him.

“They know they were brainwashed. They’ve been given tools that should help them avoid possession by Corvina, and we have extra security on them.”

“Okay,” Falcon says.

“And you guys already know how we deal with visitors,” Owen says. “It’s all logged, and Lana and I approve who gets in. We also don’t let anyone wander when they’re here. We have the place covered with cameras. Someone’s always watching them.”
