“What if our Omega goes into heat?”
She raises an eyebrow at me. “You have two Alphas in your pack, don’t you?”
“Uh, yeah.”
“You’ll make it work. If you can’t do that, then maybe we need a different team.”
“Fine,” I agree. “This works for me. If the rest of my pack are good with it, we’ve got a deal.”
“Good,” she says, sighing. “I seriously need a vacation.”
She gets up and walks around her desk.
Tapping on her keyboard, she looks down at her computer screen.
I’m not sure what’s she’s doing over there, and I’m done thinking over mind-numbing details.
I get to my feet, ready to leave with my copy of the contract.
Shayne can check it over. As soon as we’ve all had some training, we can sign it and start house hunting in the nearest suburbs on the weekends.
“What’s wrong?” Pete asks from his post by the side of the door, his gaze on his mate.
I glance at Lana, wondering what he’s worried about.
She’s frowning, sure, but I don’t see anything wrong.
“I’m supposed to call the Alpha Alliance back, A.S.A.P.”
She picks her phone out of her pocket and scowls at the screen.
“It didn’t even vibrate. I’ve missed three calls!”
She makes the call and stands behind her desk, her other hand on her hip.
Part of me wants to go straight back to Robin’s suite, but I know this must be important, and if it is, I’m going to need to hear about it.
The academy is about to be as much my domain as hers.
If there’s an imminent threat looming, I need to know what it is.
“This is Lana Cole, from Goldcrest …” she starts. “Yes. I just got out of a meeting.”
I concentrate, but I can’t hear the voice on the other end of the line.
So, all I can do is look at her tense expression as she talks to her contact.
“A resistance? Are you kidding me?”
She shakes her head.
“Okay. Thanks for letting me know. Yes, I’ll tell him.”
She looks over at me as she lowers the phone.
“Your old contact Jeff Walker is part of a resistance movement inside the Alpha Alliance. He’s been working against them with a few other members. Seth Carver discovered this on a job to extract Omegas from Colvindale Academy. He’s still working to get those Omegas out right now. It sounds like we’re going to have some new Omegas soon.”
“I knew Jeff was an asshole,” I mutter. “What are they doing about the resistance movement?”
