“We’re going to get back to the ranch,” I told Nash. “You want to catch up when we get back home?”
“Nothing to talk about as far as I can see,” Wilder grumbled. “He’s not checked his facts and thinks he can buy us with the promise of sponsorship and investment. He seemed like a nice guy and everything but like he said he’s a businessman. He’s got one goal in life and that’s to make himself a boat load of cash.”
Nash went quiet, his gaze distant.
“You okay, Nash?” I asked.
“Hmm, just a lot to think about.”
Wilder looked doubtful. “Like what?”
“It’s a lot of money he’s offering guys,” Nash said, his lips turning into a taut smile as he pulled the collar up on his coat and fished his keys from his pocket. “But like you said, let’s talk when we get home.”
“Nash!” I protested. “You can’t seriously be thinking about it?”
“He’s not,” Wilder replied. “You’re not, are you, Nash?”
He’d started to walk toward his truck as Cassidy grabbed my arm. “Is he really serious?”
I shrugged. “No idea, sweetheart.”
“He better fucking not be,” Wilder hissed, following Nash.
“Shit, I’m glad I’m not travelling back with them.” I took Cassidy’s hand and lifted it to my mouth, kissing the back of it. “Come on, let's follow them back just in case a fight breaks out.”
“What do you think?” Cassidy asked, skipping along beside me to keep up with my long strides. “About Jenkins’ offer. Doyouthink we should take it?”
Beeping the key fob, I opened the door for Cassidy and helped her in. Her trousers weren’t as tight as those she’d worn on our date, but she was still just as tiny. Once I was sitting beside her and made sure she was buckled in, I started the engine. Pulling out into the traffic behind Nash, I tried to determine if they were arguing in the truck in front of us. I leaned closer to the windshield and peered out.
“Honey, you won’t be able to see from here whether they’re fighting or not.”
Cassidy’s hand on my thigh was warm and comforting and high up, right near my dick. However, driving down Clementine Hill’s main street getting a road rocket from my girlfriend didn’tseem right somehow. I mean, the traffic was slow, and people could see inside the truck from the sidewalk.
“I know, sweetheart.” I sighed, trying to stop thinking about Cassidy’s mouth around my dick. “I know. I just hope this damn development isn’t going to cause more problems than those with the land.”
When I glanced at Cassidy, the look in her eyes told me she was as worried as I was, and that petrified me.

The Middle – Zedd, Maren Morris & Grey
Cassidy
The only sound in the truck was Gunner’s agitated breathing, clearly worried about his brothers arguing in the truck in front of us. He was gripping the steering wheel so hard I was worried his knuckles were going to pop through his skin. When the truck engine silenced outside the ranch house, he quickly unbuckled and threw open his door.
“I need to check on them, sweetheart.”
“Gunner, I can get out of the truck on my own.” I pointed to the house. “Go.”
He gave me a quick kiss to the lips and then followed his brothers into the house. I followed but hesitated as I stepped through the front door. I couldn’t hear any argument, but I was also aware I wasn’t family. If there was going to be a heated discussion I wasn’t sure they’d want me there.
“Cassidy,” Gunner’s head appeared around the door of the lounge. “We’re in here, sweetheart.”
When I entered the room, smelling of lavender and burning wood from the fire, everyone was sitting, including Lily who had Billy sleeping in her arms. Wilder moved up the sofa to make room for me, patting the seat.
“Take a seat, Cassidy. Join in the fun.”
“I didn’t say we should take the offer, Wild,” Nash said, reaching for Billy. “Give him to me, baby, I know how heavy he is.”
