“Are you going to be a good girl and come for me? Be sure to moan extra loud for me. I want to see you come undone.”
That does it for me; my eyes flutter shut. “Oh fuck, Weston. I’m coming.”
When my eyes open, I see him coming against the shower wall. “Yes, Willow.”
He braces himself against the wall, catching his breath, when he turns his head, the water runs perfectly over his hair, dripping down his face.
“I hope you enjoyed this, baby. But the next time you come thinking of me, it’s going to be on my cock.”
I bite my lip, the mental image of that stirring up another round of desire, before I do something stupid, like join him, I slip out ofthe bathroom. My back lands against the door as I close it. After that debacle, there’s going to be no denying that I want him, too.
Chapter 28
Willow
When I walk into the construction zone that is cabin B, we’ve had to name them due to us agreeing to meet, and then showing up at the wrong one. I can hardly believe my eyes. It’s like a completely different place. It holds all the charm you expect from a cabin, but it’s starting to feel way more of this century and less like the 1800s. There’s still a lot to do with wiring, lighting, and flooring choices, but we’re getting somewhere. This is the first time I’ve walked in here and not wanted to go cry in a closet somewhere. For my first big girl project, I feel like I’m doing a pretty damn good job.
Terri, the contractor that Weston hired to lead the job, walks in.
“Hey there, Willow, how are you today?” His ballcap is covered in white dust. He wipes his hands on his jeans, which probably doesn’t do much good since they are covered in gunk.
“I’m great, thank you, even better after seeing all the progress you’re making.” My eyes roam over what a few weeks ago were the bones of the cabin; now it’s starting to look like it’s going to be a livable space.
“I’m glad you’re happy with it. Want me to show you around so I can talk you through some of our next steps?”
“Yes, I’d love that, thank you,” I say as I step alongside him.
He spends the next twenty minutes walking me through the cabin, showing me the ins and outs of his plans and vision for the place.
“Weston is going to be so happy, it really sounds like you’re nailing his vision.” The exposed beams on the ceiling add height to the small space, making it seem even bigger. They expanded the windows, adding more natural light. I can see it already. It’s going to be beautiful.
“Well, I’m glad to hear that. Speaking of Weston, I’m supposed to grab the first check from him, but he got busy. Do you by chance have a way to get that to me today?”
“I’m sure I can find a way to work that out. Let me get with him and I’ll get back to you by the end of the day. How does that sound?”
“That works perfectly for me, dear. I’m going to get back to work and make sure my guys are working hard,” he says before making his way toward the back of the cabin, where some workers are installing new plumbing in the bathroom.
I walk back to the truck and get it started. The AC unit is shoddy at best, but it’s better than nothing. The summer heat has really ramped up.
Pulling out my phone, I dial West’s number. He answers on the second ring. “Yes, Sunshine.” He draws out the yes in a sing-song manner.
His greeting brings a smile to my face. It’s getting harder and harder to deny my growing feelings for him. “Hey, Terri needs a check from you today. Is there any way I can come grab it from you and bring it to him?”
“Shoot, I totally forgot about that. I’m so sorry, yeah, it’s in the top right drawer of my desk. You’re gonna need a key to get in there.”
“And where can that key be found, or are you gonna make me go on a wild goose chase?” I’m sure he wouldlove that.
“As fun as that sounds, I’m living with you and would prefer to go to bed without being smothered by a pillow, so it’s in an envelope in the left drawer all the way to the back.”
The key is really only one drawer away? “That’s really the best you could do to hide that key?”
“Listen, if I made it any more complicated, there’s a ninety-nine percent chance I’d forget where I put it, and then everybody’s screwed. I like to work smarter, not harder these days.”
And now I’m smiling so hard my cheeks hurt. “I think you have a lot more work to do on the smarter side, West.”
“Somebody’s feeling a little feisty today.”
“Some call it feisty, some call it honest.”
