“I don’t know what you did,” Malakai says to me, leveling me with a glare, “But you need to fix it.”
“Stay out of it,” I snap at him.
His brows shoot up, “I won’t stay out of it because whatever you’ve done has upset my wife and when my wife is upset, Iwillget involved.”
I roll my eyes at him, looking toward Killian and Dean who have leaned in to listen like they’re pickingup on gossip in a playground.
“What did she tell you?” I ask, pressing for information on how Olivia knows.
“Nothing,” Malakai grumbles, “But she’s been glaring at you all evening and hasn’t said a single word to you. It’s enough.”
Had she? I hadn’t noticed, too fixated on getting the girl that had been next to me most of the night to give me a real smile.
She keeps her focus on the girls, but she’s tense, and the smile is as fake as it can get. But that’s how she stays for the next ten minutes as everyone finishes their drinks before getting up to head out to catch the cabs that were ordered.
“You can’t ignore me all night, Red,” I whisper to her before she climbs into the cab.
Her eyes narrow and she quirks a brow, “Oh God!” she says loudly, shoving her head through the door to speak with the rest of them, “I left my coat. I’ll grab another cab!”
“What?” Olivia yells, “No, we’ll just wait.”
“It’s okay,” She shoves at my back to get me into the car, but I hold, “I’ll be right behind you.”
“I’ll stay with her,” I inform them before I shut the door and tap the roof, the car pulling away a moment later.
“You were supposed to go with them!” She crosses her arms.
“You don’t have a coat,” I point out.
“Yes, I do,” She huffs, turning back to storm into the restaurant to go look for this imaginary coat. “Just go to the club, Bast!”
“Why?” I challenge, “So you can slink off home to ignore me some more?”
She scoffs.
“I know you, Red.”
She stops at the bar, not bothering to go any further, “Actually I was going to stay here, have a drink and then go home.”
Smirking, I call over the server and ask him to grab management. The manager, a guy in his late fifties named Carl, comes over with a big grin. Before he can rope me into a conversation, however, I ask him for what I need.
“Mind if I borrow your office?”
“Sure, sure,” He accommodates immediately, shoving his office keys into my hand, “All yours.”
“Thanks,” I turn back to Willow, “Come with me.”
“What are you doing?” She whisper shouts, “I’m not going anywhere with you.”
“We’re going to sort this out now,” I growl, “So then we can go back to our friends and celebrate my sister coming home.”
“Bast!”
“I’ll throw you over my shoulder, Willow,” I warn her, “Your choice.”
Her anger brightens her eyes and color blooms on her cheeks and then she snatches out an arm, telling me to lead the way.
I grin triumphantly and walk toward the staff doors, keeping them open for her before I find the office, unlock it and usher her inside.
