“He doesn’t want to move either. I’m sure of it. He loves it here because my woman keeps spoiling him.”

“It’s not that. If Robin has money backing her. What if she tries to use it to get to Ty? Is he safe at school?” I ask, my panic building.

Hunter watches me for a moment. There’s something that passes in his eyes. I have no idea what it is. I’m too stressed out thinking that Ty might be vulnerable.

“The school knows I have sole custody, baby. They’re not going to hand him over to her,” he finally answers.

“The higher ups might not, but if she has money to give someone …”

“I’ll make sure we have a man on Ty,” Torch says. “I’ll go there right now, instead of going with Adam and Skull—well, unless Adam wants to visit the school, too.”

“It might help if the police give the school a call and let them know of some issues,” Hunter points out.

“I can’t do it in an official capacity, but I can’t see why I can’t go with you two and just stand in the background,” Adam replies. “I can meet you guys at the school, and we can go to the bar from there.”

“Sounds good,” Torch and Skull answer together.

“Thanks, Adam,” Hunter says, before saying goodbye and hanging up. Then, he puts his hand against the side of my neck and bends down so that his lips are almost on mine. “God, you’re perfect,” he murmurs quietly.

My heart starts running away with me. I can’t believe he said that. I can’t believe he’s going to kiss me in front of his family. Then, I forget to think about what I can’t believe because he’s kissing me, and I lose myself in him—just like I always seem to do. The thing is, the more that it happens, the less scary it gets. In fact, right now, I feel …completely safe.

Chapter 22

BB

She was worriedabout my son.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that Beau was completely freaking out about me claiming her home as ours. I can tell she’s worried. Hell, she’s as skittish as a newborn colt. That doesn’t bother me. It might take her a bit to feel comfortable with all of the changes in her life, but I know she loves having me and Ty in her house. I know she loves falling asleep in my arms every night. Hell, she might even love it half as much as I do. I just need to somehow make her finally believe that what we have is real. It seems simple, but it’s anything but where Beau is concerned. My woman has more guards up than the freaking royal palace. To be honest, I’m surprised that I got this close to her—but I’m damn thankful.

I follow a step behind her as she goes to her garage. She looks at me and gives me a nervous smile. “Don’t you have to get back to the club?”

“I’m done today. I’m going to stick close to you. We’ll go pick up Ty together. Dad knows Ty’s principal. He and Skull will make sure he’s protected. Ty already knows to stay away from anyone he doesn’t know. It sucks, but I made him hyper awareof that. The club will always have enemies—more so in the past than now, but they’re out there.”

She nods. “We really need to talk, Hunter. I think we went from zero to sixty in the blink of an eye here.”

I grin at her, then snake my hand out to capture her. I pull her body close to mine and then kiss the hell out of her. I groan as the taste of her mouth surrounds my tongue. It’s all I can do not to pick her up and carry her back into the house and into the bedroom. I force myself to end the kiss—way before I want to.

“Want to blow off talking with Grifter?” I ask, only half kidding.

“What was that kiss for?” she asks, sounding dazed. Pride fills me as I take in the glazed look in her eyes and the dreamy tone of her voice.

“Because you’re my woman and I needed to remind you of that.”

She frowns. “That’s …”

“Hey, Beau. Did we show up at a bad time?” Grifter says, grabbing our attention. I turn to face Grifter and another man. I’ve met Grifter once, but it has been a while back. I was only prospecting back then. Thank God that’s not the case now. I don’t want Beau to see me as inferior in any way. I’ve fucked up enough with her. I don’t want her to regret being with me.

“Hey, Griff. No. You have perfect timing. We were just headed out to meet you,” Beau says with a smile. I don’t like her smiling at him. My body vibrates with the need to claim her.

He studies me for a minute, and I move toward him, and hold out my hand. “BB. Beau is my old lady,” I announce, with a grin that only deepens when she doesn’t deny it.

“You look familiar,” he says, studying me.

“We met a while back. You weren’t with the KOA then. I was just prospecting. You dealt with Skull and my dad.”

“Oh, yeah. You had that bitch on the back of your bike. Good to see your taste in women has improved.”

“You have no idea,” I murmur, refusing to let him get a rise out of me. Instead, I step back into my woman, looping my arm around her back and resting my fingers on her side. I kiss her temple. She turns to look at me in surprise and I stare into her eyes and tell her the absolute truth. “I’m a blessed man that Beau even gives me the time of day, but I’m damn thankful.”
