I should have followed her to the parking lot. I knew how unsafe the area she lived in was. I hadn’t thought that they would come to kidnap her if they didn’t get her father. I was too arrogant, thinking they’d never be able to hurt her if I was with her.

Marie, her mom, was safe, but in a panicked state. She had told me they both had a fight and then two men in masks kidnapped Chelsea. She scratched one of the men, but they easily pushed her off, driving away in a dark SUV.

I was going to kill them. They had stolen what was mine, and I would make them pay for it.

“Don’t act too rash,” Cillian’s voice rumbled through my earpiece. He was in another car with the FBI so they could arrest everyone running the illegal operations.

“I’m a lawyer,” I replied to him. “I will act within my duties.”

I knew they wouldn’t torture her, but the thought of strangers even touching my Princess made my blood boil. I should have kept her tied up in my penthouse so that she would never leave me and never get hurt.

The car rolled to a stop at some distance and I focused on controlling my breathing while the armed forces got ready to attack the abandoned school. The factory that we had located previously was emptied that morning. They knew the police would catch them, and that’s why they had changed their plans.

Chelsea’s family wasn’t the only family they had targeted. Hundreds of families were in debt because of them, and I was going to make them pay every single cent until they wished I had killed them instead.

Just a few minutes, Princess.

Daddy is here to save you.

I would definitely get punched if I said that to her, but she’d still kiss me with an angry pout afterwards.

Chelsea

My limbs were aching when the drug started wearing off. I woke up in an empty dark room with my wrists and ankles tied in a thick rope. My head was bursting with a headache, and it was hard to breathe.

The floor felt cold and murky. My body felt heavy when I tried to squirm. I swallowed, hoping my mom was safe.

Holding my hands up, I tried to remove the cloth gag covering my mouth, but it had a tight knot.

A door creaked open and my eyes squinted at the sliver of light. Two men walked over to me. My back planted against the cold wall. I wished I could crawl away from them.

“You’re finally awake, huh,” one of them said. “Let’s hope your boyfriend pays well for the effort.”

I swallowed as they inched closer. I tried to scream when they held my arms, dragging me up, but it was muffled. I wanted to writhe away, but that only made their hold tighten. They took me into a big space with high ceilings that had chipped paint and dirty floors. It smelled like crap.

But there were more people there. Large, burly men eyed me from up to down, making my skin crawl. I felt naked in jeans and a tee-shirt.

“Let’s have a taste before he comes,” one of them cackled, walking towards me. My heart raced. I struggled to move away. I would bite his hand off if he dared to touch me.

Before he could reach me, a door slammed open and someone walked in.Thank God.

My eyes tracked their movement. Polished shoes, ironed pants, crisp shirt, and thin glasses. I froze, feeling my heart drop.

Sean smiled at my kidnapers with eyes crinkling in the corners.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” I yelled, but the stupid cloth made my words muffled, and the sound that came out was gibberish.

His grin widened seeing me.Idiot! He plopped down on a wooden chair he had brought with him as two men stood guard behind him. They were also the kidnappers.

Don’t tell me he came alone. Was that his plan?

“Lovely to see you’re alive, darling,” he said and looked down at the thick files he had brought with him. “Now, you called me here to pay for my dear girlfriend?—”

“What the fuck is he talking about?”

I nodded, agreeing with the kidnapper. There were fifty men in here and he came alone to save me?

Sean glared at the man who had interrupted him. “Please allow me to complete my sentence.”
