Liza: answer my call Sean
I sighed and placed my phone back on the desk.
“Do you have anything to share, Sean?” Derek asked, interrupting my thoughts. I glanced at him to realize he was standing near the podium to show his presentation.
“No, keep going,” I said, crossing my arms. He continued, and I tried my best to focus on the importance of creating strong evidence, but my eyes kept averting to the phone.
Maybe Caleb is right. Mobile phones are addictive.
Because why was I expecting a message or a call from Chelsea? I had made sure she was feeling better before dropping her off, but what if she gets cramps and there’s no painkiller at her place? Or what if she feels hungry and has no food?
I should call her.
I reached to pick up my phone and felt a prickle of heat on my face. Paige and Derek were glaring at me as if I had committed a grave sin of making coffee and not offering it to them.
Which I had. Once. That morning.
“What?” I said, clearing my throat.
They both shared a look before Paige asked, “Are you dating someone?”
“What? No, why would you ask that?” I answered her too quickly. I wasn’t lying. I wanted to date Chelsea, but I couldn’t ask her out after knowing her for less than a week.
She had your dick in her mouth and you cleaned her period panties.
I ignored that thought. We were in a transactional relationship as of now, and even though I wanted more, I would have to settle everything with Liza before asking Chelsea to be my girlfriend.
“You forgot to offer coffee this morning and didn’t even ask how Paige was,” Derek accused me, keeping his papers on the desk and siting beside Paige, across from me. Now they both looked like my parents asking me if I was gay when I was seventeen, because Cillian and I hung out almost every single day, and I never talked about dating a girl.
They were so wrong.
I had a girlfriend when I was sixteen, but she moved away and we never crossed paths again.
Leaning back on the chair, I pinched the bridge of my nose and said, “I’m sorry I didn’t ask about your health, Paige. I have some things in my head, that’s all.”
Paige turned to Derek. “He’s dating someone.”
“I’m not.”
“He is.” Derek nodded, ignoring me. “He has checked his phone seven times since we started the meeting.”
Paige asked, “Who do you think he is dating?”
I flared my nose and stood up. “I’m not dating anyone.”
Derek smirked. “I think I have an idea who he might be interested in.”
“This is against HR policy. You should not discuss my love life.”
They both turned to me and gave me a deadpanned stare. “You did not even react when Paige said she’s going on a maternity leave soon,” Derek said. “We should be looking for an assistant, but you’re like a teenager in puppy love glued to your phone.”
I looked at Paige accusingly. “You’re leaving?”
She stood up with the support of the chair and I glanced at the huge bump on her stomach.Right. “This baby needs some rest. And by baby, I mean,me.”
She deserved rest. What am I doing?
I ran a hand through my hair. “Sorry, right. You need to leave.” I asked Derek. “Have you found anyone yet?”
