Cat turns to me. “We went through all of those emails and letters to Jeffrey Rose. I didn’t see anything from Premy, did you?”

“No.”

Cat frowns. “What about letters Premy sent to her brother? Did she do that?”

Tatiana nods. “Oh, yeah. Lots of letters, which is strange since her brother was paroled about six months ago.”

“So what?” Wysdom asks.

“The letters kept coming, long after the brother got out of prison,” Tatiana pulls them up on her screen. “And they’re not exactly letters you’d send to a brother if you catch my drift.”

My eyes glance over the steamy details Premy Sagadore put in her letters.

“What is this?Flowers in the Attic?” Cam snorts.

“Well, they’re not technically blood-related,” Wysdom points out.

“That’s so gross. I don’t even know where to start,” Carolina covers her eyes.

“I don’t think those letters were for her step-brother,” Cat tilts her head. “There are details in here that look like a code. Tatiana, do you think you can crack that?”

“You act like I’m as lost as last year’s Easter egg! I’m already on it,” Tatiana chuckles, and a few minutes later, she shows us the letters again. These are definitely a code.

Celia points to the first letter. “That one lays out the prison break.”

“There’s the point when they go to Tova’s house,” Flint adds.

“So, where are they now?” Luke asks.

“Looks like they have a rendezvous the day after tomorrow,” Wysdom points to the last letter. “With the very cryptic, ‘good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise.’ Pretty sure that’s a racially insensitive thing to say, though.”

“Insensitive or not, it’s a clue,” Cat turns to Tatiana. “Does Premy or Beck have access to a property near a church and a stream or some moving water?”

Tatiana clicks away on her keyboard. “You betcha. Here’s a family farm, left to Beck when their adoptive parents died. The location is fifty miles from here.”

Celia nods then barks orders for the epic takedown of Premy, Beck, and Jeffrey Rose.

As everyone leaves the conference room with their assignments, I frown. There’s something about it that doesn’t feel right. But I couldn’t put my finger on it.

A hand tugs my sleeve. “I think we need to talk.”

I nod at Cat and follow her outside, forgetting all about the sense of impending doom I feel in my gut.

Chapter 40

“Best apology, ever.”

-Cat

Ryker follows me into an empty office at Saber Security and locks the door behind us. I turn to give him a piece of my mind, and he’s on me in an instant.

The kiss sears into my lips and spreads electricity across my skin. I moan into his mouth, and his tongue plunders. I grip his hair, wanting him closer. He grabs my ass and lifts me onto the desk.

I break the kiss to look at him. “You still owe me an apology.”

He grunts and pulls my pants and underwear down, kneeling in front of me. “How’s this for an apology?”

I suck in a breath as his mouth zeroes in on my Coochie Mama. We’re both whisper-screaming his name as his tongue slides into my core. I lean back, bracing myself on the desk, while his hands grip my thighs, opening me wider for him. The orgasm is swift, sweeping over me until I see stars and nearly slide to the floor.
