Rage pulses through me. “Why!” I shove him backwards, catching him off guard, “Are you-” I shove him again. “Such-” One more time, “An asshole?”
He grabs me by the shoulders and pushes me backward. “Stop pushing me.”
“Fuck you!” I yell into his face, straining against the grip he has on my shoulders.
“No thanks,” he says coolly.
Before I know what’s happening, my body is on fire. We both look down and his eyes grow wide with shock, as do mine. I’m glowing, like a light blue flame is dancing around my body.
All the cockiness has drained from his face and in its place is concern. Good. Let him be concerned.
“You need to stop.”
“Are you scared?”
“Everlee! Fucking stop!” He lets go of me and backs away.
“Not such a tough guy now, are you?” I press my hands to his chest and he growls out. Deep and ferocious.
“Everlee,” his tone has changed once again. Confusion?
Cracks fill the air. His cracks. He’s shifting. His wolf.
A second later, a large black wolf is standing in the bathroom in front of me, head down, body tense.
CALLUM - F UNIT
FuckingJax.Whydoeshe do this? Why does he try to push everyone away? Knox and Emmett both eye me from across the bar as the pants and moans fill the air. He’s fucking with her. We all know it, because the bastard won’t let himself feel anything but anger towards her. To him, she is light. Hope. And he won’t let himself feel that, or her. He’s going to push and push to try to put out her light, but he can’t. She is a force to be reckoned with, and he may have met his match with her.
Daughter of a succubus and an alpha wolf. She will take any challenge he throws at her and come out on top. He thinks he can break her, but he hasn’t let himself get to know her, to know he’s fighting himself.
“You need to stop.”
“Are you scared?”
“Everlee! Fucking stop!”
Knox presses away from the bar. “I feel like we need to get in there. This seems to be escalating quickly.”
“Not such a tough guy now, are you?”
“Yea, maybe we should,” I agree, pushing away and following Knox up the stairs.
A growl echoes through the house and Knox mumbles, “Shit.”
“Damn it!”
“Everlee.”
Bones cracking filter through the hallways.A second later, the air shifts and my hair stands on end.
“What the fuck?” Knox yells from Jax’s bathroom door.
I already know what to expect before Emmett and I skid to a stop behind him.
Emmett’s fangs drop as he tenses behind me.
“Ev, you need to get out of there,” Knox warns, hands gripped tight on the doorframe. “I wish I was in the pool right now,” he mumbles under his breath.
