“Is squeally a word?”

“Fuck. After last night, it one hundred percent is. Like those noises didn’t even sound human. I literally was tearing out of my room thinking some sort of animal had gotten into the house when Callum and Knox stopped me.”

“Are we going to race or talk about orgasms?” Jax interrupts.

“Are you really asking my opinion or just pretending?” Knox asks, then quickly backs away from Jax’s hand. “What? I thought it was a valid question.”

“Shut-”

“Yea, yea. I get it. Not a real question.”

“So first to our house’s boardwalk or first team to the boardwalk?”

“I think, team,” I chime in.

Everyone shrugs in agreement.

“What do the winners get?” Beckett asks.

“I don’t know. What do you want to give up when you lose?” Knox chides.

Beckett tosses his head back in laughter. “Good point. What do you want, Will? I want it to be something good when we win.” Will shrugs, then Beckett thinks about it some more, then holds his finger up in the air. “For the rest of today and tomorrow, losers have to play servers to the winners. Basically be their little bitch boys.”

“Oh, you just guaranteed our win. Jax won’t play servant to anyone.” He looks at me, “Well, outside of Ev, of course.”

“No cheating or holding anyone back. Just a clean race,” Will says, looking at Beckett.

“Why in the hell are you looking at me?” Beckett puts Will in a chokehold, rubbing his knuckles on his head.

Will grabs Beckett by the legs, taking him down, before popping back up.

“Oh. We’re totally going to win.” Knox is running around in large circles, thrusting his arms into the air.

“Is it too late to change partners?” Jax asks.

“Man.” Knox swipes the air, then draws a line in the sand with this foot. “Let’s go, bro!”

“Coming darling,” Beckett sweeps across the beach in a fantastically dramatic fashion.

Watching my guys with Beckett makes my heart swell. The way that everyone is here and melding so well together. It’s like these guys- my guys- are long time best friends of Beckett’s. I don’t know how I got this lucky, but man, am I thankful. Rich was never like this with Beckett. In the time we were together, we may have hung out with Beckett three times, and two of those times were the holidays. I knew Beckett wasn’t a huge fan of Rich while we were dating, but it wasn’t until we broke up that he unloaded all of his thoughts and feelings on me.

Beckett hated him, and that was before he found out he was cheating on me.

They were like oil and water.

Rich always had his nose in his phone and was always working, or so he said. But these guys… they’re like brothers from another mother. I would have never dreamed of going on a couple's vacation with Rich and Beckett and Lizzy. This just proves that things happen for a reason. You may not know what that reason is when you’re going through it, but there’s always a reason. The storm before the rainbow.

Jax and Knox are lined up on the left, and Beckett and Will are lined up on the right. Callum, Emmett, Tony, and Lizzy are standing behind them, while I’m in front of them in the center. Being very car racer girl like, I hold up a shirt in the air, letting it dangle towards the ground with my fingers.

“When this touches the ground, you can go.”

“Let’s go, Becks!” Lizzy shouts from behind.

“What the heck, Liz?” Knox asks, throwing his arms in the air, flabbergasted.

“I love you too, but Becks is my boo boo brother and Will is my beau FF.”

“We’ll talk about this later!”
