I can’t help but smile, watching them together. They have a weird relationship. I know Jax has an affection for her, even if he constantly pretends he can’t stand her.
Lizzy scrunches her nose and looks around at the signs, then points up ahead. “This way, entourage.”
“Fuck. We have her for a week,” Jax grumbles beside me.
I grab his hand and kiss his knuckles. “We’re going to have so much fun.”
“I can’t wait. I’ll be in the ocean if you can’t find me. Away from her.”
“Are you sure it’s not because you simply just love the water?”
He cuts his eyes at me with a smirk on his lips. “Go.” He nods his head. “Please help her so we don’t go blindly wondering around this airport for the next thirty minutes.” He pats me on the butt, causing me to squeal.
I run up ahead, with my luggage trailing behind me. “Need help?”
“Did grump send you up here?”
“Maybe I just wanted to talk to my boo on our first cou- hmm. It’s not a couple's vacation. What would you call this?”
She puckers her lips. “I don’t know. Group vacation sounds too… blah.”
“Right?”
“Here we are.” Liz points to the sign that says car rentals.
Twenty minutes later, we’re all stuffed in the cars. We put all the luggage in the suburban, and Lizzy, Tony, Knox and I decide to take the Jeep. Lizzy said I could sit in the front with Knox. Something about wanting to be chauffeured around.
Her and Tony were here just a few weeks ago looking at wedding venues and they still haven’t made a decision. Last we spoke about it, she was going to have it near us, but when she came home, she fell in love with the southern charm. At the rate she’s going, she’ll be getting married at the courthouse.
I take in a deep breath. Aside from the smell, it feels good to be back home. The sun warming my skin, and the wind blowing through my hair. This is going to be such a wonderful week, I can’t wait. What could go wrong with my brother and his boyfriend, my best friend and her boyfriend and all my guys? Holy shit. I just realized that’s a lot of cocks in one house. Wow! Ok.
Lizzy taps me on the shoulder, so I run my fingers through my hair and fist it tightly in my hand and turn to look at her. Yes. I forgot a fucking hair tie.
“Are you excited?” she asks, beaming. She’s sitting in the middle of the Jeep, snuggled into Tony, whose arm is wrapped around her with her beautiful dark hair wrapped tightly on top of her head.
“Very.”
She smiles. “Me too. It’s going to be so fun!” She slips a hair tie off of her wrist. “Here. You can use this.”
“I could have used it ten minutes ago.”
“I know, but you needed to learn a lesson of preparedness.”
I shake my head, smiling. “You better be lucky I love you.”
She makes her fingers into a heart and holds it in front of her chest. “Let’s go!!” she yells.
Knox presses the accelerator and we tear off down the two-lane stretch of road, hands raised up, letting the wind whip around us.
“Jack! I can fly!” Lizzy belts from behind me.
The entire Jeep bursts into laughter.
I glance over at Knox, with his shaggy sandy blonde locks whipping in the air, left hand balanced on top of the steering wheel, right hand resting on my leg, and a smile on his face. He’s wearing loose fitting khaki shorts with a very beachy button up, full of beach balls and palm trees on it. A stark contrast from the tattoos jutting out around his neck and arms.
Emotion swells in my chest and I squeeze his leg. He looks over at me, with his bright white teeth showing. “I love you.”
He smiles, squeezing my leg. “I love you,” he says, winking at me.
