“Do I smell a taste test at the party on Monday? I mean I will test them if I have to. Plus, I just want to be at Vixen and be like boo-yah bitches, I already tried this drink, and it’s the bomb. Ooh, I could walk around getting people interested in them.”
“If you’re working there, then you wouldn’t be able to partake in the pleasures of the drink.”
“True.” She points at me. “Scratch that. This mama needs to drinky drink. BUT! And I say this… he needs to incorporate cotton candy in it! What goes better with unicorns and rainbows than cotton candy?”
“That’s a good point. I will have to tell him.”
“Excellent. Tell him I expect to have several samples to try on Monday at the party.”
“That we aren’t sure we’re having yet.”
“You kid.”
I wasn’t kidding.
“We can be here around sixish. That will give you all enough time to fuck or something and then get hamburgers and all that stuff prepared.”
“Is there anything else you need to plan?”
“Goodness to Betsy no! This wedding is enough.”
“You have a date yet?”
She winks at me.
“Oh, thank you! I was hoping you were going to pick that date.”
“Girl. When June ninth falls on a Saturday, you have to get married on the day!”
“No truer words have been spoken.”
A silence falls on the air as we just sit outside and listen to the night insects serenade us with their symphony.
After several minutes, Lizzy pops up in her seat. “What time is it?”
I glance at my watch. “Just after ten.”
“Do you want to go get in their hot tub? Or should I say yours?”
“We can.”
I pull up my phone and login to the app and turn the heaters on. They usually have it programmed to turn on at midnight in case they want to get in when they get home.
A minute later, my watch is vibrating.
Jax: What do you think you’re doing?
Everlee: Lizzy and I are getting in the hot tub.
Jax: Go on.
I chuckle.
Everlee: Stop.
Jax: You ladies have fun.
Everlee: We will.
