“I don’t know. It’s an enormous commitment.”

She puckers her lips.

“It is,” I whine.

She taps her chest like a singer who’s about to perform, stands up and holds her hand out, “Bullll shiiiit. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshittttt,” she belts as loud as an opera singer.

“What in the fuck are you doing?” I grab her arm trying to swing it down, as if it’s the lever for her volume.

“I thought it was obvious. I’m calling you on your bullshit.”

“Oh no. It wasn’t before, but now you’ve really cleared it up.”

“Good. Because if you didn’t get it, I was going to get another round and then go for an encore.”

“Man. I hate I missed it,” I drone sarcastically.

“Never fear, my dear. I will give you a second round.”

“Pass.”

She laughs and walks over to me. “You pass on me. On my encore. I worked very hard on that song, I’ll have you know.”

“I could tell. The key change for the third bullshit really stretched your vocal range.”

“You noticed?” She clasps her chest. “My vocal coach said I shouldn’t, but I said nay. I shall push my boundaries for my boo boo.”

I have no words and just shake my head.

“Have you talked to the guys about a cookout at their place on Monday?”

“I forgot.” With everything going on with Allure, it had completely slipped my mind.

“Well, thank God I reminded you. It would have been super awkward to show up with a cooler of drinks and my fruit platter with no party.”

“Somehow, I doubt they would blink an eye.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“That they have found a way to love you and accept you for the gem you are.”

“I feel like that was a backhanded compliment or something, but I stopped processing after you said they love me!”

“How can they not?”

“You know, I’ve said the same thing about all my exes. How could they let all this go?”

“Well, thank the lords they did, because you were able to find Tony.”

Her bottom lip sticks out. “Aww. And that’s why you’re my maid of honor.” She bats at the tip of my nose.

“So I guess that also means you didn’t ask about the Rainbows and Unicorns party?”

“Actually, that, I did.”

“Really? What did they say?”

“They loved it, and I gave you all the credit. Emmett is already working on a themed drink.”
