His eyes narrowed on mine. “You shouldn’t drink so much.” He commanded before turning around.

Before thinking, I sarcastically replied. “Yes, sir.”

His head snapped around and there was a fire ignited in his eyes. I felt my breast swell and my stomach tighten as my breath hitched in my throat. Could I orgasm off a single look? Because fuck, I was close. Or was I masturbating in public and not realizing it? I looked down, relieved to find my hands hanging by my side.

When I looked back up, he was gone. Vanished. Like a ghost.

“Wow.” Lizzy said.

“What?” I asked, hoping she hadn’t seen me nearly melt into the floor.

“Nip, nip did you good.”

“What?”

“I don’t know his name, but the bartender bought you several gourmet sandwiches from Bo La Vie.”

“Really?” I said, peeling the bag away from her and peeking inside. I pulled them out, carefully treating them like gold bars, and laid them on the table, looking at all my options.

I’d been dying to try the new restaurant, but could never get a reservation. The fact I even had to get a reservation to get into a gourmet sandwich shop irritated me, but now I was all too eager to try everything I could.

“Do you think nip nip would let me have a knife? I can cut these up and share.”

“No. You don’t need to share.” Tony said.

Lizzy’s eyebrows shot sky high. “Don’t listen to him. That is a great idea.”

I knew she wanted to go there as badly as I did and wouldn’t let Tony stop her from trying the goods. I moved and swayed through the crowded dance floor and landed at the bar again. I waved my hand to get nip nip’s attention. I really needed to learn his name. He walked over smiling, “I’m not serving you. You’re cut off.”

I pouted. “I wasn’t coming over for a drink, but now I want one.”

He looked over my head again and I turned to find Callum in his usual spot, watching me. “What’s with him?”

“Who?”

“Callum.” I said in a deep and spooky voice.

He laughed, then stopped. “What do you mean?”

“He’s been standing up there most of the night watching… people.” I didn’t want to presume and say me, but I definitely felt his eyes on me.

“Oh. He’s just… watching everyone. Big night.”

“Yea?”

“This is our first big opening. We had a soft opening before, but tonight’s the big night.”

“So he’s not always that uptight?”

He chuckled. “No, he is.” He looked up at him again, then said nervously. “Well, I better get back to it.”

“So you really wouldn’t serve me if I wanted a drink?”

He pulled his lips. “Callum’s orders.”

I turned to cast daggers at Callum, but he was gone.

“Well, I didn’t want one. Just a knife.”
