“Jesus Fuck Callum. When I see you I’m going to-”
“Come all over me?”
I disconnected the call. I couldn’t take anymore. My skin was hot, my heart was racing and I’m fairly certain it looked like I pissed myself with the probable moisture that had leaked through my skirt. My fault for not wearing underwear today, but this skirt was one of those kinds you can’t wear underwear with.
My phone chimed with a dick pic and my knees buckled.
What the fuck are you trying to do to me, Callum?
He sent back a wink face emoji.
That was my way of saying I’d go with you tomorrow night. I just need to figure out how to break it to the boys.
Would it help if I signed my contract?
Three dots appeared, then disappeared. Then appeared again. I stared at my phone, waiting for a response, but the dots kept coming, then going, coming, then going. Curiosity and anticipation were killing me.
My phone dinged, and I looked at it, only to find Lizzy asking where I was. Shit!Leaving now. Be there in three!
I grabbed the list off my desk and stuffed it into my purse. I didn’t need to leave that lying around, only to have someone accidentally pick it up. No thank you!
I was walking into the salad shop a few minutes later and found Lizzy in the corner by the front door with her arms crossed. “You better have a good reason you left me waiting.”
“It was five minutes.” I said, looking at my phone. I tried to hide the disappointment that Callum still hadn’t responded yet. I shoved my phone in my pocket and gave Lizzy a hug.
She grabbed me by the shoulders, looked me up and down, pinched my cheeks and smelled my hair. I’m sure people in the salad shop were wondering what in the hell was going on.
She pointed her finger in my chest, just above my breast and said. “You’ve been laid.”
“What?” I grabbed her arm. “Do you want to yell that a little louder so everyone else can hear?”
She took in a big breath.
“Don’t you dare.”
“Or what?” She teased, her eyebrows raising to her forehead. “Everyone should know you got a piece of ass.” She grabbed my wrist, pulling them down, bringing our face an inch apart. “How was he? Oh my God. I bet he was amazing. He looks like he would be.”
“I never said we did.”
“Hooker, please. You and I both know you got your little kitty kitty taken care of last night. So spill.”
Thank God Jax allowed me this one thing, because she’d be impossible. I’d have to avoid her for a week or more for her not to pick up on it. “It was amazing.”
“Yes!” she yelled, thrusting her fist into the air, garnering several curious glances. She chuckled meekly. “My favorite author just released her book a week early! Yeaaa.” She pumped her fist in the air again.
People turned back to what they were doing and her gaze landed on me. “Can you believe them? Authors releasing books early is exciting!”
“But yours didn’t. Your feelings are hurt over something you just made up.” I laughed at her. She was complete chaos, and I loved it. She always was. We were and still are inseparable. In school, we were known as the dynamic duo and teachers knew we could never be in class together. One year in tenth, they accidentally put us in the same chemistry class and so, of course, we partnered up. Almost set the school on fire. To be fair, the gas line was faulty. At least that was the story we were sticking to.
We ordered our salads and found a table in the corner. “So.” She asked.
I rolled my eyes, both excited and not excited to tell her. I didn’t want her getting her hopes up about this relationship since it wouldn’t last very long. Maybe it’s just what I needed. The hump I needed to get over to get back out there. Literal and figurative hump.
But this hump was going to break me for all future humps. Gahh!
She cleared her throat, bringing me back.
“So after we left, he was planning on taking me home, but then we got to talking, then he…”
