He laughed, “I see you’re protective as ever.” He winked at me, then turned back to the girls and continued dancing.
“Let’s go get a drink.” Lizzy mumbled.
I walked with her to the bar, glancing over my shoulder to look at Dick. Of all the things I thought would happen tonight, ending up at Dick’s birthday party never made the list. The last time I had seen him was a few days after the Valentine’s Day gala when he showed up at my doorstep and tried to get me to give him another chance. He said he was going to win me back, but it's been radio silence. It was probably a good thing, because I would have slipped. Not because I wanted to get back with him, but because I was sad and horny and he was someone I knew. It would only be to fuck him, but that would open the door and I didn’t feel like dealing with that baggage.
I heard a squeal that caught my attention and turned to find bridezilla was up here now dancing with Dick. I guess flies are attracted to shit, so it makes sense they would find each other. They were grinding and dancing, their hands moving in places they probably shouldn’t be.
“I guess some things never change.” Lizzy said, staring at Dick.
“Good luck to that woman’s groom.” I mumbled.
“Want to go dance? On the opposite side of the floor from him?”
“Sure.”
We sat our empty glasses on the bar and walked, hand in hand, to the other side of the dance floor. All the other times I’d been up here, it had just been a few of us. It was weird to see it so busy, but I was happy for them. The club looked like it was doing really well.
The song changed, just as we got on the floor, and it must have been a popular song, because suddenly the floor was packed. A man pushed his way in between Lizzy and me and started dancing with us. I tried not to think too much and just moved my body, letting the beat take control.
A moment later, I felt a hand on my side. I leaned back and closed my eyes, dancing with this stranger, moving my hips, rubbing against him. I just wanted to have fun and let go of everything. Callum, Jax, Knox, Emmett, Dick.
The man’s hand slipped up to my waist, then back down to my hip. My body felt electrified right now. It was humming. The vibration from the bass and the drinks probably helped. I felt his head drop beside my face as he continued to grind into me. Our bodies moving together in rhythm. It felt so right. So perfect. I snaked my hand around his neck, holding him in place. His lips began to gently kiss my neck, and a moan escaped my lips. I felt him smile against my throat as he continued to nibble and suck on my fevered skin.
I turned my head to find his lips just as the lights went out. The kiss started off soft, cautious, and then quickly turned into something more. His tongue brushed across my lips and I opened, letting our tongues dance. I turned around, so I was facing him chest to chest.
I wanted more. I needed more.
I heard the crowd sing happy birthday, but I didn’t care about anything but these lips on mine right now. It had been months since I had kissed anyone and these were delicious. I felt my insides tighten as I melted into him.
The song finished, and the lights clicked back on. I pulled away and looked at the man I’d been kissing.
His bright blue eyes were on my face with a smile tugging on his lips as his hand rested on my cheek.
Making up... for lost time
“Everlee.”Histhumbbrushedover my cheekbone.
“Callum.” I breathed, reflexively pressing into his hand. “I should have known…”
He chuckled as his eyes settled on my face. “You kissed me first.” He defended.
I pushed against his chest, his hard muscles twitching under my palm. “I don’t think so, buddy. You were kissing my neck.”
He let out a low hum. “I suppose that’s true.”
I couldn’t help but smile looking at him. He was just as sexy as the last time I saw him, with maybe a few more strands of silver threaded through his dark hair.
“Are you here with Rich?” The infliction in his voice when he said Rich made me smile.
“No. Some guy brought us up for his friend's birthday. Turned out to be Dick’s, and he invited us to stay for the drinks.”
He hummed, grabbing my hand and guiding me over to a booth in the corner. I caught Lizzy’s eye, so she knew where I was going. Her face was glowing with a shit eating grin.
“How have you been?” He asked, sitting beside me, with his hand on my thigh.
“Good.” I answered, breathlessly. “You?”
His eyes were boring holes into me. The skin under the touch of his hand was on fire. I felt my core spooling and butterflies dancing in my stomach. “I’ve been better.” He admitted and I couldn’t help but wonder if I had something to do with that.
