Getting out a glass and filling it with water, I go to the cabinets and pull out the dishes he’ll need.

He’s made enough for all of us, so when the door opens and Shock helps Chrys inside, the table is ready.

“That smells delicious,” she says. “But I’m not sure I’ll be able to eat it right now.”

“You will.” Risk holds out a chair and I look at Shock.

Normally, I’d poke fun…poor guy, his cock is still straining against his pants.

But the moment he thinks about what happened on the way home, I can’t feel anything for him but commiseration.

He looks at me and I know he’s waiting for it. He expects it.

“Not this time.” I tell him and he sits—uncomfortably—in the chair across from her, leaving the seats beside her for Risk and me.

“Everything okay?” Risk asks.

“Yes and no?” She finishes the glass of water, and I pour her another one as she weaves a little in her chair.

“The doctor gave me a clean bill of health, but something’s going on with my meds.”

Shock pulls the bottle out of his pocket and slides it to Risk. “Are they bad?”

“No.” He picks up the bottle, reads the label and then looks inside… “but they're not what the label says they are.”

“A mix-up in the pharmacy?” Shock has switched back to our language and Chrys has closed her eyes. If she objects, she doesn’t show it.

Risk shakes his head slowly. “No. This was intentional.”

His thoughts say more and I speak them out loud so Shock will know, too. “The person who brought her here knows she’s with us.”

“That doesn’t make any sense. If they wanted her here, they had a reason, and it wasn’t to give her to us.”

Risk’s brow ridges crease, his eyes narrowing. He doesn’t know why they brought her here.

He doesn’t like not knowing.

“I caught like five words of that,” Chrys says, eyes still closed. “Want to give me the cliff notes version?”

“She means a summary,” Risk explains quickly.

“Sorry… there are some sayings that are just habit.”

“It’s fine.”

“We think the people who brought you here know you’re with us. But we don’t know why they’d tamper with your medication like that.”

“Maybe they want me to bond with one of you?”

“That would be counterproductive to their previous methods.”

“What were those?”

“They wouldn’t want there to be anyone who would come after you once they’d taken you.”

“Something tells me you guys wouldn’t let me out of your sight.”

We wouldn’t.
